Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows of a good way to make salmon or tuna sandwhiches without using mayonaise?

What are the positives and negatives with eating canned salmon and tuna?

Thanks,
Foodio

Ginni probably does!

I eat my tuna right out of the can. Or, just put it on bread plain.

Just because the majority believes it, does not make it true!

I eat mine out of the can to, some people use Tabasco sauce, never tried that though.

Just another day in the gutter

I mix tuna with a ranch dressing made by a company called walden farms, it's got no calories, no fat, and no carbs. And I add some pepper and chopped celery.

I stumbled across this little bit of info on canned salmon.....

Canned salmon is one of nature's healthiest and pure foods. Canned salmon contains only salmon sections with a little added salt to enhance the flavor. Nothing else is added in most cases. This analytical work was conducted by the Department of Food Science at the University of British Columbia (UBC), and summarized in a report entitled "Nutritional Analysis Of British Columbia Canned Salmon" This study reafirmed that BC canned salmon is a good nutritional source of well balanced and easily digestible protein, polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA), omega-3 fatty acids, calcium, potassium, vitamin 'D', the 'B' vitamins, and phosphorus. Calcium is an added bonus offered by canned salmon. The bones in canned salmon are soft and edible making canned salmon an excellent source of dietary calcium.

You can try different things with either of them. Just whatever you prefer.. I like it mixed with a little Dijon mustard or straight out of the can... I have heard others putting a little pickle juice in it to add a different flavor..

When cutting, I put flax seed oil, alittle mustard and onion in the tuna and then put it on some light wheat bread. Tastes pretty good. Better than it sounds.

Thanks for the responses.

Well for lunch today I had a can salmon, plain (with a little ketchup and pepper) on a whole wheat bread. It wasn't too bad.

Is tuna just as good for you as salmon?

i eat them right out of the can ususally. sometimes a little dijon mustard is good.
