samsung mesmerize issue

i had it on the charger and all was well...take it off charger and it had turned itself off apparently...won't reboot...swapped my other battery and still nothing...when i plug it into the charger it doesn't even signal that it's connected to charger...it also won't boot with usb to laptop...no water damage and no other damage from dropping it or anything...any ideas?

nevermind...finally holding both volume and power button it worked after several tries at that too...i'm gonna bid on one on ebay and keep it as backup
