Okay. So I am a female 5'8 athlete who weighs 146. I don't have an accurate body fat percentage stat at the moment, but a good portion of me is muscle. I want to weigh about 138 however, this would be ideal for me. I'm in college, and I exercise 5-6 times a week, alternating cardio and lifting days. I try to avoid carbs, and definitely sugar. I eat 4 meals a day, its difficult for me to fit in any more. I usually eat a medium sized breakfast, large lunch, smaller snack, and then medium sized dinner. I don't want to post exactly what I eat because I often switch it up, so those are my general guidelines. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how many calories I should be eating, how in a cafeteria setting I can guesstimate calories, or any other suggestions about general nutrition to lose my last eight pounds?

Im not a diet expert but Im pretty sure the first thing someone is gonna tell you is to post ur diet.

Yes, post your meals... Eating 4 times a day, with 1 of those being a snack is probably part of your problem, but we need to see what's in each meal as well.

It's too difficult to tell you how many calories you should be eating. Posting your diet would help but the best way to tell is to do a test.

Track what you eat for 4-5 days and monitor your weight. If the scale goes up, cut the calories down, if the scale goes down, bring the calories up. Basically find your maintenance (IOW - what you need to eat daily to maintain your bodyweight) and then cut your calories from there to lose fat.

Probably not the answer you are looking for but it is the best answer.

Do you avoid carbs ENTIRELY? Because that may not be the best route for you, if you're so active...

Thanks everyone, for those who asked, here is my diet normally. No I don't avoid the better carbs.

8 am: 2 scrambled eggs and one cup of oatmeal
11:30 am: Teryaki Chicken and vegetables, an apple or an orange
3:00 pm: Nutri-grain bar or a cup of oatmeal or two cups of soup
6:00 pm: Grilled Chicken and salad, or vegetables

OMG you must be hungry

That isn't enough food to feed you. Lack of protein in this diet as well as lack of EFA's.

Have you read the stickies at the top of the forum called Guide to Cutting etc....?
