I'm not sure what the situation is in other countries, but in the UK the threat of yob/youth violence is significantly increasing. The HappySlap culture in Britain is worse than ever, and people are too scared to intervene.

Do you think we should form vigilante groups to patrol the streets?

Id say if it is that bad then yes...Im not familiar with what you are talking about though, but kids are pieces of shit now days, I used to work at a ghetto recreation center where the kids thought they were the shit, and their dads played basketball in the gym with guns in their coats...

I was the authority there, and I used to have to break up shit all the time, also had a few situations where the older guys would rob little kids who left their coats sitting aorund that had money in it or a wallet....

I had one kid come up to me who was no older than 7 tell me his wallet was stolen, I had to go an tell all of these ghetto ass guys to chill out without sounding like I was blaming anyone in particular, but I know one of those fucks stole it....

I have read up on the problems in England. There are two things you should do before taking to the streets. First, repeal the legislation banning civilian gun ownership. Look at your crime rates compared to the passing of this legislation and it is evident that there is a direct casaul relationship between making citizens sitting ducks and skyrocketing violent crime. This makes sense, seeing as criminals generally like to prey on people not able to defend themselves. Second, get a police force with a fucking backbone. I read a story with multiple accounts of people dying because the police refused to enter any situation in which they thought they may be hurt. In one story, a woman was shot (criminals still have guns, what a surprise) and the police refused to enter the building for hours even though the child on the phone assurred them that the man with the gun had left. She bled to death, medical care could have definitely saved her life.

However, I am generally in support of resisting crime in any way possible. If you are a big guy, make a habit of taking a stroll at night, and when you see some little punk assaulting an old lady, kick his fucking ass.

Twice i've stepped in and twice i've almost got my head kicked in but not a single person on the street did anything!

The main problem is, it's not criminals, it's generally people under 18 who hang out in 'gangs' who cause the problems. Intimidation, assaults, theft, and damage to property are most common.

Another useless post by topolo.

Anyways I think 99% of the problems with kids these days go back to the parents. It's just about impossible to discipline a kid now days without finding yourself doing some time for child abuse. These groups that form anymore protesting this and that has ended up causing all this shit.

They're the first one's to cry out when something happens to there kid, but fail to realize they (the parent) was the cause of it by crying out child abuse for spankings and other little bullshit.

I think so as well. It's usually the people who are in groups with the mob mentality that do something stupid. I somewhat dislike being the age I am because everyone thinks everyone my age is like that. Obviously it's not true, and hopefully they don't really believe that, but sometimes you never know. Luckily I'm a pretty big guy and no one's given me any serious problems before. I'm not sure what I'd do if they did.

And are you saying that you intervened when something happened and no one else around did anything? Not unbelievable, just odd I suppose.

Yea, on both occasions everyone else on the street just carried on walking or stared. This general lack of intervening, I think, gives youths the belief that they can do what they want.

Obviously it depends on the situation, but I would almost feel like I'd have to intervene in certain situations. If there were a group of people giving a girl a hard time or something, there's no way I could walk away. Even if I got seriously injured, it'd be better than letting her fend for herself. And if I died, I'd be sure to haunt that group of people for the rest of their lives to make their lives a living hell. I'm so nice...

Glad to hear you'd step in Squaggleboggin. It's scary how often people just stay back because it's 'none of their business'.

And I do see the reasoning sometimes. Maybe what you see on the outside is nothing like the true story. But in many cases I don't think I could just walk away and wonder what would've happened to the person. I know I'd help out a friend or family member, so I'd definitely help out someone who's at a disadvantage. Most people who start that kind of stuff are pretty scared anyways. I'd say that in most cases they'd just leave, especially in public (that is, if someone else stepped in).

When I saw vigilante and yob problem I thought this was going to be about forming large groups of Americans to swarm So Cal farms and take back jobs or yobs from illegal Mexican immigrants.

I agree - I'm 16 and from ages 2 - 12 if I didn't anything wrong I got a ass beating. I don't think people realize theirs a huge difference between child abuse and discipline. If they can still walk after they've been "spanked" then they're fine. Hell, if I mess up now I usually just get a punch to the nose ( which I've steered clear of ).

But, pretaining to what's above I'd have to say I can't really relate. I mean we have plenty of gangs in the city I live fairly close too, but in Texas as the saying goes "If you kill someone, we'll kill you" and people usually take this to heart and steer clear of doing anything really wrong. Most people on the street have no problem stepping into handle a situation that is "getting out of hand", sounds like England is full of pussies to me?

True Story, so by Freud's standards, you're one F'd up little kiddie who is gonna grow up to be just like his daddy. :thumb:

I'm not little, I'm not a kiddie, and yes I suppose you could be right ( for once? ).

Well put PT. My wife teaches in the public school system and the school she teaches at is about 90% upper middle class or upper class and she tell me some of the shit that her 4th graders do and say. As soon as the school tries to discipline them they cry to mom and dad and the parents get all pissy about it. They think that there kids are "cute" and "don't believe they would do or say something like that". For once I would like to see a parent/parents take responsibility for their childs/children actions and the way they raise their child/children. My parents would have whipped my little ass for the shit these kids do now days.

While I do think physical discipline is obviously effective, I believe that having an understanding of why something is or is not wrong is ver important from a young age. I'm the type of person who must understand something before I do it. In other words, if my parents tell me to go to the grocery store, I will ask why. After all, why should I go all the way there if not to buy food? Bad example, yet easy to understand. Everything has to make sense to me. If it doesn't, I keep asking questions until I figure it out.
