I recently had open shoulder surgery for torn Posterier and Medial Deltoid heads. The surgeon used 3 bone screws and anchored the torn muscles to those. He said I cannot start lifting again for 4 months. Of course, I will follow his instructions. Just wondering if there is anyone out there who had a similar injury and surgery and is back lifting and how that is going. Need some encouragement that I will be back.

My shoulder surgery about 2 years ago was arthroscopic to repair a torn labrum. The Dr. used absorbable anchors as well to tac the tendon back in place. I followed the Dr.'s orders and went through the PT but it was way longer than 4 months before I was actually back at the gym pushing any kind of real weight.
Give it time to heal up, rushing it will only screw you in the long run. My shoulder was at 100% maybe a year after the surgery. Lifting does not cause any pain now but if I play multiple softball games in a week it starts to get a little sore. Good luck.
