Have been working out for about 6-7 weeks so far right now. I took off nearly a year and went from about 196lbs to 230 or so. It's a long story and I won't bore you with the details and my lame excuses.

So far i've been working out every other day for about an hour. The HUGE mistake I made before was going on a 1500 calorie diet. I felt fine because I was eating regulary and exercising but I wasn't gaining any muscle. What's the point of training if you don't gain a little muscle and just lose fat? In the end I was pretty "wimpy" looking to say the least. I got into that mode where I felt that eating and drinking all those MRPs would hurt more than it would help! Was I ever wrong.

Now I eat about 5 or 6 times a day. It just comes naturally and unfortunately...I hate to admit it..don't plan anything out. That's a big mistake and it'll change soon. I try going for 40g of protein at each meal and 40gb of complex carbs and a few servings of vegetables a day. A few times a day i'll drink a protein shake or a Myoplex MRP.

If I was like everyone else that tries to diets..i'd probably just look at the scale and give up. Lately the scale is useless. I was 230 or so and only have gotten down to 222 which isn't that bad I guess. For the past 3 weeks my weight on the scale has been exactly the same each and every week. I'm pretty much not worried because when I get out my tape measure I see results.

I measure my arms, thighs, chest, navel, 2" below, 2" above and hips. For the past 3 weeks i've regularly lost a total of 4" of FAT off my body and my body fat percentage has gone down every week. I usually try to use my skinfold calipers twice to get accurate results. Right now i'm at 6'5" and 222lbs. I'm at about 19.8%BF. That's pretty FAT I know, but i'm getting there. I'm starting to see some muscle definition for once. I do remember when I was 196 I still had a lot of fat around my stomache area but yet people would tell me I looked too skinny!! I don't want to look like that anymore.

So is 4" a week about right? Do you yourself ever get on a scale and have lost fat but the scale doesn't show it? Also, how many lbs of fat is 2" normally? Hard to say really. I always heard that was about 2lbs or so.

The biggest different is that once when I was 287lbs I was dropping the fat off so quickly that i'd be buying new belts every couple of weeks..now it's like going so slow, but that's ok..as long as i'm replacing some of that fat with muscle. That's what I want!

Its sounds like your on the right track. If you find now that your in a stand still with weight loss perhaps it is time that you begin to keep track of waht you eat daily and pre-plan ahead if your that serious with fatloss and what not.

you mentioned a balance of carbs and protein and veggies.. dont forget the EFA's ;)
