hey i sent my mom for some skim milk but she brought me soy by mistake, but ive never heard of soy milk, anyway what is this soy milk is it any better than skim if im cutting.. ? should i not drink soy milk if im cutting... or mix it with my whey protien shake.. im curious about this soy milk any info would be good thanx..

There is a lot of debate out on soy products...

Some will say that soy milk is 'bad' because of the phyto-oestrogens in it (they think it will raise oestrogen and make fat loss harder as many blame oestrogen for female fat... but in honesty oestrogen is not the bad hormone for females - it is largely progesterone..)... anyway - for most, soy oestrogens are so weak that they are not an issue - and in some people, they can also act as ANTI - oestrogen as they will block the bodies stronger, natural oestrogen and prevent it from working...

There is also debate about the safety of soy in regards to thyroid health and a few other issues... But the evidence for this is still not clear cut either.

If the milk is fermented soy then the above things are not issues and it will be fine. If the milk is not fermented then you can use it if you want - a weeks worth is not going to do you any harm... (I would not use it PWO (too slow on the uptake) - but you could use it at other times without a problem).

Oh - but it will also depend on if there are any other ingredients - if it lists things like sugar etc as well as the soy milk then I would not drink it.

I was drinking Soy awhile back...but then switched to Rice. How does Rice Milk compare with the 2 above?

Ingredients in Rice Dream: Filtered water, brown rice (partially milled), expeller pressed high oleic safflower oil, sea salt, vitamin A palmitate, vit D2, vitamin B12.

Thanks :)

soy beans -ever heard of that ?

well i dont know about soy milk being healthy or not but 1 gallon is about 100 calories but anyway this is vanilla soy milk, and i just served me a cup with fucken Vanilla Whey and dammit is fucken good lol defenatly way better than water with it hehe

Does anyone have links to any studies about Soy milk or Soy Protein?

If there's a whole food store around your house go there and get organic milk that is un-homogonized. The reason you need organic is so you know the cow hasnt been jacked up with growth homrones and other stuff which is gonna make you fat if you eat it. And you need un-homogonized milk so it wont clog you up (cream naturally floats to the top so you have to shake it).
