Hey, I have a bunch of spyware, and probably a couple trojans running on my computer, and need to remove them.

First I ctrl-alt-del'ed and wrote down all the names of the processes I didn't recognize. There were about 20.

I went into the registry and deleted all the ones from the Run part of Windows, so none of them start up there. I went into safe mode and deleted as many as I could, but some of them cannot be deleted because they still start up in safe mode. How can I delete these ones? Is there a different mode I can start my computer in to delete BS like this?

I ran AdAware too, but it didn't detect a lot of the stuff this time.

Any other tips or tricks for removing these little bastards? I know I could reformat but I'm trying to avoid that if possible...

Thanks.:thumb:

Alot of these viruses attach to other operating files so if you delete them from your registry, you screw up your computer. You have to know the name of each virus or trojan to remove them as each removal requires something different. Alot of the times you still end up reformatting to completely get rid of them.

Also they work by defeating virus protection and ad aware programs, so after you get them, the programs are of no use to you in removing them and that is why you manually have to remove them.

I would recommend Spybot Search&Destroy
The home of Spybot-S&D!

I sure as hell dont! Some of this ad removal IS adware!

I went to Best Buy searching for a possible nerd to eliminate my shit. I got SpySweeper. Everything was solved at a fraction of the cost from SpySweeper. I HIGHLY suggest this if all else fails.
