I've started to separate my upper body workout into separate, smaller workouts targetting specific areas. Yesterday was the first day I did this and I worked solely on biceps and triceps. The night after the workout, my back is sore to the touch; the outer edges of my ribs.
I know being sore after a workout shows you're actually working hard...but if I worked my biceps and triceps, why would my back and outer ribcage be sore?
