Anabolic steroid injections can cause serious infections, but sometimes it’s hard to differentiate between an infection and a localized reaction or hematoma. This video is about the diagnosis and management of infections for harm reduction purposes. I discuss the range of infections, when to suspect an infection rather than a localized reaction, and strategies for minimizing infection risk. I also explain what antibiotics may be used to treat both skin and muscle infections as well as the risks of some antibiotics for people lifting heavy weights. Even if you think you’re being safe, there are a few mistakes I see men making that compromise sterile technique, and a few ways that even sterile technique can lead to infection. If you inject steroids, watch this video to reduce your risk of infection!
