Get the Duct Tape...I'm Ripped Again!
After having done heavy bench work (smith and BB in a cage) and both heavy DB Shoulder and Chest presses on them.....our gym is now looking for .......

TOUGHER BALLS! :D

Yes...you heard me........."Tougher Balls" :D:D:D

Seems a trainer.....using only 65 pound bells on a swiss chest press....RUPTURED a BALL...and possibly broke his wrist.

Bummer........

Always find out what your balls are "rated for"....and even then , BE CAREFUL........

DP

My gym doesn't need any of those swiss balls ..

The benches are wobbly enough as it is :D

i thought for sure he was gonna say something ''pornal''. that sucks though.

I will do push-ups and crunches on a swiss-ball,
but not a hair on my head would think about using serious weight on those things!

That's about as safe as weighting a condom!

I've heard of this before. There seems to be a few "imitations" on the market that aren't as durable as the originals.

I hear those Swiss balls can be dangerous if you try to stand on one and run.

If you get the cheap Walmart kind then that's likely to happen. The real (read:expensive) balls are usually good for up to 1000 pounds of pressure and are anti-burst so even if they break they won't hurt anyone. Unfortunately they cost three times as much.

ALWAYS use anti-burst quality balls when using weights with them! Anything less and an injury is iminent. Good post DP!

All we have at my gym is English, French and some guy from Norway.

Are their balls tough?

I hear they make lousy parachutes too ...

Damn swedes!

My balls are anti-burst but, regardless, I skip foreplay just the same. ;)

I never would even consider bringing 65 lb DB's onto the swissballs. I usually do light DB flys.

Damn... it bursting is a scary thought!

I saw a guy once doing a demo performing a barbell squat with a plate a side while STANDING on one of these things. It was pretty awesome. I can barely even kneel on one.

Yes, Paul Chek, one of the biggest proponents of the swiss ball and its uses in fitness training can perform the full squat on a swiss ball with 135 lbs.

I worked with him for a short time while I lived in California. He schooled me on the use of swiss balls and showed me the most challenging and amazing exercises them. My fav thing to do on them is crunches while holding up to a 120 lb dumbell on my chest!
