I am not saying that I am by anyways productive as I could be at work. But, I do watch the same few individuals take 4 to 5 to 8 smoke breaks a day.

say 5 mins a smoke break ...

say 5 smoke breaks a day....

thats about 125 minutes a week, say 2 hours....

thats about 100 hours a year....

thats about 2.5 weeks a year...

I've worked in my at this company for 3 years now.

I think I am going to talk to the HR manager about taking a 6 week smoke break??

I already cause alot of shit around here, as you guys can imagine, do you guys think this is a good idea??

Do it.... let us know how it works out.

Yes! :thumb:

5 minutes? Shit, it's more like 10 minutes around here.

Our company has gone smoke free. No smoking anywhere on campus, period. And you are not allowed to smoke if you are on the clock, which means you can't walk down the street to sneak one in. And if you are at an event (say, a conference) representing the company, you are not allowed to smoke. They ain't kidding around.

so what if you leave the campus for lunch, how can they restrict what you do on your lunch break? :joint:

Hell yes, do it. Just because they're stupid enough to smoke doesn't mean they should get extra time off.

I don't know. I don't know how they'd know or how they'd enforce it. But, it doesn't impact me at all so I haven't bothered to find out.

As a manager, I am supposed to be proactive about reminding people of the smoking policy if I see them smoking. Two women that report to me have quit smoking since the company adopted this policy. They had been smokers for decades.

I wish I worked for a company where smoking wasn't an option. It would help me stay smoke free.

I have to smoke every once in a while or I'd never escape from my desk and the telephone tether, I usually only take a few puffs and then just stare at the ground letting thoughts pour out onto it. I miss jobs where I did routine, busy work where my mind could wander off and I could still do the work. Now I have to use my brain all day and I feel more exhausted from that than I ever did doing menial labor. Plus the stress is multiplied five fold, sometimes at night as I fall into slumber my brain will start freaking out about all the crap I couldn't finish the day before.
