Mudge,

I think you could of gone without that comment.
Just maybe ?

Were you one of those smart ass kids when you were a kid mudge that always ended up in the trash can, or did you just start now?

I was being somewhat serious, not being a smart ass. I was a bit of a wisecrack in my early years, I cleaned up for the most part by the time I was 7 or so, now I'm actually pretty reserved.

I don't know Mudge, I think speaking for most people if you said "Duhhhhhhhhhh" after they made a comment, they would think that was pretty sarcastic to me. I know they couldn't of changed the english language that quickly and slipped a word in like that one.

I've done 120 push-ups in 120 seconds. There were some tests in the military that required 2 minutes worth, and it was a good time to shine if possible. Some guys later got up into the 140s - 150s. I never got close to that, thats pretty crazy.

I got 120 sit-ups too then. The worst thing about doing alot of sit-ups on concrete is that you wear the skin off your tailbone when you first go at it. Hopefully over time you develop some callouses/thickened skin over it.

My pull-ups were pretty weak then though, could only get betwen 15 and 18.

Some guys do alot better... and I'm certainly no powerlifter.

That's a lot better than I did Eggs! Sit-ups was about 50 max and push-ups never went over 70. Pull-ups were around 8. I hated PT testing day! The sit-ups we did though were in the grass.

Well, we had lots of practice because we did all of our sit-ups free (without holding our feet down) until testing day. Then it was cool. If I remember correctly. Shoot its been alot of years, but pretty sure we were assisted on testing day.

I always enjoyed it. Though later on in the military most people were so hockey that I was almost embarassed for them. Thats not because I'm that good either, but because they were that bad. Never broke an 8 minute mile and a half or anything. Mostly due to goofing off, I had about the same pacing for half marathon runs.

I got the chance to hang out with/take tests with a guy who was training as an Olympic triathlete before he came in (not sure if he had participated previously). The dude was amazing though, his running and swimming skills/fitness level were just superb.

My own record was 127 situps in 90 seconds, and yes it hurts. Much easier with someone holding your feet if youre going for speed.

We did our sit-ups with someone holding our feet. I think part of it was a mental barrier and I got bored when doing them. I was too young and immature to strive to be better and I guess I was being a bit rebellious also (That got me doing alot of push-ups!)

I think I was able to to 12-15 chinups in highschool just due to my natural strength and skinnyness. A few years ago, about 30 pounds heavier, I had to work up to 10, and I was only able to do them if I raised my legs as I went up. I didn't pump with my legs, but I had to keep them straight and raise them. I read that it's harder to do them that way, but maybe I'm built weird because it was a natural motion and necessary for me to do that many. Is that normal?

Yeah your right Pressalot, the heavier you get the harder those chinups can be. I too remember back in high school them being much easier. I think I weighed like 180 then. Now at 230, I have to work hella harder. :lifter:

I was just wondering if I'm alone with the leg raising thing. I guess it pumps blood to my upper body, but it's weird how I have the desire to raise my legs (I don't pump my legs to jerk myself up, and I keep them straight)--it's almost subconsious once I get into the higher reps--and I'm pretty damn sure it makes my chinups easier, despite what I've read. I'm not sure if it's considered cheating in chinup competitions.

Because of the angle that it would move your body at by offsetting the weight with your legs how you have done. I would say it would a little get harder if you put your legs behind you.

So Mudge....you have a 400plus horse mustang?

No, but Mustang Ranch had a wideband O2 and the prices were OK, it was really about the closest place to me. That particular car was a 94 Z28 which has since been mostly de-modded other than the suspension, I plan to get rid of it, 73 240Z is my fun car now. Its slated to receive a 5 liter Ferd and a 5 speed hopefully early next year, I'm tired of smog BS.

67/68 Camaro is a dream that I hope to fullfill, I had a 69 Firebird 400 years ago till I blew it up.

411 at the wheels, was about 465 crank HP, I had an ignition miss so I was missing about 600 RPM of powerband there, thats with shorty headers too. No CARB legal long tubes because they move the location of the cat and O2 sensors which is illegal.

Pitt Boss has worked on some 8 second stangs, haven't seen him around much these days.

Check out this local dude, I believe he said 1680 crank HP.

It's funny you mention Camaro. I have 1968 with a 387 stroker motor. I'm not sure of the Horsepower since I never dropped it on a dyno, but it should be somewhere around the 400 mark. I also own it's rival the 2000 GT Mustang. As far as power, there is no comparison between the two. The camaro by far is superior there. But I like the new features and quite ride of the Mustang. I've owned my camaro since I was 16 years old.

The nice thing about the old hot rods is there is the no smog requirements. It's a beautiful thing. That and no damn cat and O2 sensors (bah humbug). I hate those things.

p.s. I know the mechanic that works at Mustang Ranch. We grew up together. Are you talking about the one on El camino here in California right?
