Whats up with weight gainers? Why would people use them? They have something like 50g of protein and 100g of sugar. If I wanted that couldn't I just make a protein shake and have 3 packs of Sour-Patch Kids. These weight gaining products seem like a ridiculous idea that just get you fat.

For those people desperate for calories I suppose, for me I would just become fat.

I overheard in a nutrition store the girl advise a 17 year old to take it. He was like 6'0" and 150 lbs. He SHOULD take it and NOT 1-TEST, Growth or Prohormones.

well, 50 g protein and 100 g simple sugars post-workout is not a bad ratio. Timing is what will make all the difference. I take my weight gainer either in the morning, or post-workout, and I do not see a lot of fat gain.
But of course if you'll take 'em anytime, that's a bad idea.
Plus, stick to the reputable brands like Prolab.

1-Test is a waste of money at this age, out test lever are freaking going crazy at this time.

Absolutely correct, Kata! I was at VPX and that's exactly what they tell those kids when they come in. It's hilarious but you got to hand it to these kids. They do try! 1 Test is a like a pack of cigarettes, not till your 18, sonny!

He should eat real food first. If you are unable to get enough calories through real food than maybe opt for a weight gainer. But I am a strong believer that you can gain weight from real food and weight gainers are unneeded if done properly.

i just don't see the point in weight gainers. You can just take a regular whey shake, add dextrose, ice cream, strawberries, flax, heavy cream, etc to it and voila you got a great tasting shake that can be made to have 1000+ cals.

Weight Gainers are bs. They have way too much calories and carbs, although they have a lot of protein, all the extra carbs just counteract the protein and you end up with more fat then you do muscle. Unless, you are severly underweight I would not recommend weight gainers.

Some people are really skinny and could use the calories, most of us though, I agree - forget it. I fall into that category, I would just blow up in pounds.

If you are really trying to bulk-up I would stick to a clean bulk, increasing protein and calorie intake, but not calories from carbs and fat and also changing up your training to heavier with lower reps.
