I've forgotten how amazing this system was, and that was when I was only playing WiiSports and WiiPlay. Over the past few days, I have been playing Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Super Mario Galaxy and both are MUST HAVE games. I would buy the Wii for these two games alone.

One thing that I didn't like about the Wii was that it wasn't high def. But Mario Galaxy is still simply stunning. This game is loaded with colors. And it plays a lot like Mario 64 but is totally expanded (so many more worlds and new Marios like Bee, Boo, Ice, Spring, and Fire Marios).

So these are the games that my brother has:
- WiiSports (comes with the Wii) - great game with high entertainment value being as simplistic as it is
- WiiPlay (can buy in a combo pack with an extra Wii controller) - comes with a handful of games like Duck Hunt, a memory game, Pong, a fun tank game, and more. Again, a simplistic but very fun game.
- Link's Crossbow Training (comes with the WiiZapper, which we bought for Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles) - A really fun shooting game with a bunch of different scenarios, even some with RPG shooting (like Zelda). Haven't spent much time on it yet though.
- Mario Party 8 - I haven't played it yet, but my brother says it seems like a combination of the older Mario Party games in one. He doesn't like it, but if it really is like the old games, I could see it being fun for younger kids when having friends over. One big gripe is that it's not even widescreen. Although I don't know what the maximum number of players are. I'd pass on this one unless it's for younger kids (6-16 I'd say).
- Super Paper Mario - I haven't played this one yet either, but it looks like a harder version of the original Mario games for NES and SNES. My bro says it got good ratings but he's disappointed with it.
- Resident Evil 4 - Neither of us have played this one yet (still unopened), but it looks awesome. Unfortunately, you can't use the WiiZapper in this game (at least not with the new WiiZapper controls that RE: Umbrella Chronicles has).
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - Haven't opened this one yet but it looks really cool if you like RPGs.
- Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles - Fucking awesome game with brand new graphics and it works for two players. A few levels are hard to unlock. But a MUST HAVE game for the Wii. The WiiZapper helps.
- Super Mario Galaxy - Another MUST HAVE game. Just get it.

Some games that are coming out that have me semi-excited are:
- Mario Kart Wii - looks awesome and will most be a must have.
- Star Wars: The Force Unleashed - the new Star Wars game that a lot of people seem to be really pumped about. You can use the WiiMote as a lightsaber. Almost seems like a must-have given how much buzz there is around this one.

Not sure what to think about Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. Good timing, with the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics coming up. Not sure about the new Smash Bros game either, but both seem to be getting pretty heavy advertisement online and in gaming magazines. How is Metroid Prime 3: Corruption and Sonic and the Secret Rings? What else is good out there? Any games to stay away from?

I think we'll get one for Super Smash Bros., but even then I would imagine that'll be the only game we'll get for it for a looooooong time

Wow, is Smash Bros really that great of a game? I've only played it briefly (I think it was on the Game Cube) about four years ago and I don't remember it being that great. Isn't it just a fighting game using Nintendo characters, or is there more to it?

Chrono, if you liked Super Mario 64, you will love Super Mario Galaxy. This would be the first game I'd buy if I were getting a Wii. I don't see how anyone could not like this game. The second game (other than the ones that come with accessories) would be Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles.

LZ:TP owns all.

SSB is just a great game when you have someone to play it with a lot. It's just a great party game. But mainly it finally pits Mario and Sonic in a game against each other (aside from the Olympics one, but that one just doesn't appeal to me as much). If there was Crono and asian chicks in it I'd be set

I played SMG a bit in a demo at a local game store, and it definitly brought me back to my SM64 days. I love the RE series too, I was curious how it'd translate as a rail shooter. I think it's a rails shooter right?

I'm not familiar with the term "rail shooter." Does that mean the game moves you through and not the player moving themself? If so, then you're right, it is. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles only gives you minimum choice on where to go. It plays a lot like Time Crisis if you've ever played those games. I assume Resident Evil 4 is the same way. I only have a few complaints about the game, and it's really mainly with the multiplayer mode. One, is that the game requires you to "dodge" certain hits, and both players have to hit the dodge button right away and it has to be the correct button the first time you hit it or you either die instantly or you get hit. The ones where you die instantly are a real pain in the ass, but luckily the game has a lot of checkpoints where you continue from when you die. The other complaint I have was mentioned earlier and concerns unlocking certain levels. One level is especially hard to unlock, and I actually cheated and ended up downloading someone else's save file that already had it beat so I could get past it. That's another really cool thing about the Wii; that it uses optional SD memory to store and transfer files from the computer to the Wii. Wiisave.com is essentially the "Game Genie" of the Wii.

cool, I didn't know about the wiisave thing. And yeah, I think rails shooter is the right term. Maybe I'm getting old and losing my touch I dunno :nerd: I'm pretty sure RE4 you actually control your character though. Unless they changed it from the Gamecube version.

Yeah, you could be right. I can't tell from the game box.

Now that the devo kit is available to any third party developer, we should see a beefy influx of good games

RE4 you actually control the character, and its the best version of the game, period.

RE:UC is a rail shooter. As in, you are essentially riding along a rail, a traintrack, and have no choice in where your character moves, outside of possibly selecting a general path, on occassion

I've been hunting ebay for about 2 weeks now for a wii and can't get one at a decent price. They're sold out everywhere and I really want a new one, but I told myself that if I can get one significanly (or at all) cheaper used then that'd make up for it. And they're all in the $280-300 range USED and I refuse to pay more for a used one than I would pay for a new one. The kick in the balls is during Christmas, I repeat CHRISTMAS, I saw one on the shelf at Hollywood Video. If I had ebayed that thing I would have doubled or tripled my money.

the other sucky thing is I somehow missed a used wii that someone won for $150. I don't know how I missed it, but apparently everyone else did because bidding for these things in the $250 range has been vicious but that one managed to slip by us somehow

It's because old people are even buying them now. My gf's great uncle bought one after playing bowling and golf on one of his friends systems. Dead serious, shit who'd knew that buying them those cheap handheld poker games would lead to this?

Lucky thing I got mine last year at Best Buy. :)

Got it love it.

Quite the revolutionary system. Been reading about them using it for physical therapy in patients.

Wiifit is due out in May should be cool to see what it is all about.

Right after I posted about old people buying them I went looking for one on google and saw an article where retirement homes are buying them to get the old folks moving....it really is good to see a more interactive game system than the thumb twiddlers....

I love this console. Its everything the Gamecube was and a shitload more.

I have:

Zelda : Twilight Princess
Warioware Smooth Moves
Wii Sports
Mario Party 8
Super Paper Mario
Alien Syndrome
Excite Truck
Mario + Sonic at The Olympics
Dragonball Z Tenkaichi 2
Marvel Ultimate Alliance

And the only one that dissapointed me was the Marvel one but only because the control system is retarded. Ive played it on another console with a regular controller and its pretty fun.

Like you guys i wanna get Smash Bros, i wanna get Trauma Centre : Second Opinion, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, and a few others aswell.

Anybody else noticed how fucking many games there are for this, now? Theres damn tonnes of them.

I want to get house of the Dead 2&3 and Super Smash Bros. I just got guitar hero 3 and think I will get that wwii fighter pilot game or smash bros next.

Tiger woods 08 and MLB2k8

I like sports games

Do they have a samurai game with realistic like sword play or even a bo staff, I'm pretty good with a Bo Staff and Sai's. Also what game do you use the nunchucks with that would be fun...like a Bruce Lee Game Of Death style .....but with wii-mote's you strap to your feet and hands too!!!!

I have two co-workers in their 50s who play WiiSports every night. No joke. It's not for their kids.

One of my customers is around 50 and came in one day talking about how sore he was from playing Wii golf, tennis and boxing all weekend.... If they had a full contact fighting game like I said above with hand and foot sensors so you could kick and punch Id steal one to play that game....

Or add in a punching bag that would monitor the force of your blows that would be sweet too.....

Then in the future they'll have more advanced dummies with arms and legs that throw blows at you so you can practice with an actual moving thing.....tie it in with the second players movements and have 2 that way you could hit the dummies as hard as you want without hurting the other person......I can't wait I'll probably be 50-60 when that comes out though but I'll still have it.....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111

we got one today at ebay for $230. Wasn't the best deal and it only came with the console, but still cheaper than retail
