We've had that here in CT for a while now, it makes a HUGE difference.Dale Mabry said:Finally, bars and restaurants in Philly will have to be smoke free as long as this bill passes in a couple weeks. Thank Christ.
Proven fact its bad for business. There have been a shitload of studies and reports, all showing a decrease in revenue due to the law.LazyByNature said:I don't see how its bad for bar and restaurant business.
Every time I go into one, its a wait for the non-smoking section but they can seat you right away in smoking.

Of course, they are general, as every rest/bar will be different, but the general trend is a loss in revenue.
I completely agree.Dale Mabry said:There is an initial dip, but it eventually goes back up. Vermont and Florida did it, both places where I have lived and the impact was negligible to places I would frequent. Shitty little dive bars that alcoholics go to everyday in order to smoke, drink, and bitch about their wives get hit hard. IMO, it wouldn't hurt them to spend a couple days a week at home not drinking.

Bar owners are still fighting it though.
Eventually yes, I mean with the reduction in healthcare needs, ashtray sales, laborers to pick up up all of the cig. butts strewn all over the place, advertising agencies, etc. It could put us back big time.LW83 said:It's going to kill our economy

Yeah Cali has that mmm good fresh air, why would you want to pollute it?Mudge said:With waiters and waitresses getting lung cancer from second hand smoke, and me not having to breathe it here in California, I could give two shits if someone wants to save their $10 and go smoke outside eating a sandwhich from some other joint.
Well, I am glad that you liked it.....I actually can't believe I did that and got away with it....crazy_enough said:ROFL

People can do whatever they want as long as it's not effecting others or making other unsafe.Pepper said:Not to start a political debate here, but it always amazes me how people who generally believe that people should have the right to do whatever they wish seems to lose that prespective when it comes to smoking.
Smoking is nasty, but the way society tees off on smokers would not be tolerated if aimed at just about any other group.![]()
You are baiting me to say it, aren't you...I'm not.maniclion said:People can do whatever they want as long as it's not effecting others or making other unsafe.
