Other than retirees, not too many Americans stay for too long. As for job prospects, there are alot of foreign companies here. So you could pretty much work at whatever job you had back in the States. Alot of recent college grads come to Thailand to teach.

I lived there for a while growing up, moved there from Malaysia, on the way to japan then here in america, loved it. However, being an eurasian twin girl, my mom was always offered a sickening amount of money to take us off her hands for the pedophile market ( we were about 9 or 10 when we lived there.) Other than that, the food, the people were awesome.
