Well my friend Tony is currently recovering from a sprained ligament in his ankle he got when playing football (soccer). It's healed enough for him to start playing now, but his coach told him he should use the sled machine to help his ankle get stronger.
As he had never been to a gym before, I went down with him and we talked a bit to the instructor there. He said Tony should:
i)Position his feet on the bottom of the plate, so that the majority of the motion is in the ankle
ii)On a light weight, do 15 reps, wait 10 seconds, then do another 15
iii)Do around 4-5 sets of the above.
I posting this here to see if anyone has any comments about this - ie is it appropriate? Should he be doing something different instead?
Also, Tony said he'd like to add some more variety to his program, of course still only for theraputic effect. What else would you suggest? And in what amounts (reps/sets)?
Cheers
