Thus far I've been working out six days a week and working only one bodypart/muscle per day (chest, shoulders, legs, etc.). I didn't read this anywhere, I just started doing it on the premise that if I focused on each muscle that it would allow me to work that much harder and promote better growth.

Lately a few people on this board have initmated that working multiple muslces per day would promote even better growth. Add to that the fact that many people (who post their routines) seem to use the mutiple muscle approach.

So, I must be missing something. I should point out that I am seeing growth, I just wonder if by changing my routine that I might see more.

So my questions:

1) Can I see better growth by changing my routine?
2) What is a good starting split?

Thanks for any info!

you can see better growth bye eating more.

there is no one universal split. there are many ways to train. try a number of them and then do what works best for you or come up with something that is a hybrid of the ones you like best and you will know what to do from there.

a great place to start IMO is total body workouts.

I've been watching my nutrition for quite some time and making sure that I get enough (and correct) foods to eat. I'm going for growth.

I wan't looking for the perfect split, just a good starting one, which would be great if you could reccomend one. As for doing a total body workout, I think I'll just build up to that goal. :)

Personally I feel that 6 days per week in the gym is too much for most, unless genetically gifted (in terms of recovery ability) or on drugs, and that 4 days per week usually works best. Something like...

day 1: chest/bis
day 2: legs
day 3: off
day 4: lats/low back
day 5: delts/traps/tris
day 6 and 7: off

You can try it for about 8 weeks and see if it works better than your current split. If yes, stick with it. If no, you can always go back to what you were doing.

Thanks gopro! :thumb:

That's what I was looking for, a place to start.

On a side note, the first time I saw your name I read it as gop-ro and thought that your were from a bloc country. :)
