I am very new to this. I think what I am doing may be too random even though I keep the exercises consistent each time I lift.
I read to pick two exercises per muscle group and do them each time you wirk out. I guess I am confused. I did neglect to pick exercises for my back but thanks to some help here I am incorporating them now.
Here is what I do and in the order M/W/F (lifting days)
bicep curls (with curl bar) 3 sets of 12
Squats (with dumbells) 3 sets of 15
Tricep extensions (with dumbells) 3 sets of 12
Overhead press (with dumbless) 3 sets of 12
seated row (with dumblells) 3 sets of 12
concentration curls (with dumbells) 3 sets of 10
bench press (with dumbells) 3 sets of 12
plank (2 minutes) 2 sets
shrugs (with curl bar) 3 sets of 12
bent over row (with curl bar) 3 sets of 10
lateral raises (with dumbells) 3 sets of 10
on tues/ thurs I ride teh bike for 30 minutes (intervals)
Should I be breaking this up? I am new and this is the place I have been coming to read as well as reading mens health and exercise for men for ideas
My goal is to simply get fit and maybe build up some arm muscles and loose the belly fat I have.
I am 35 years old, male, 5'5" and 180 pounds. I was up to 196 before I started to think that I needed to do something if for no other reason than to improve my energy levels so I can play with my little girl as she gets older. Now I find that I like this and look forward to doing it butI also want to do what is right for my body. I am eating a heck of a lot better than I used to becasue of this change and it feels good.
