Hi Friends,
I just wanna ask that while doing the skull crusher exercise (Lying triceps extension) which bar is better to use the EZ bar or the plain bar-bell.Same is the question in case of cable - press down which handle is more good the horse shoe or the plain straight one

Personally, I like the V shaped bar for the press downs. Seems to work my triceps better while putting less straing on the elbow.

I always use the EZ Bar when doing skullcrushers for no reason other than it's more comfortable I guess.

I like to alternate the handles I use (from session to session) when doing pushdowns. I don't know if that does anything or not, but I like to switch it up anyway.

When I first came to IM Gopro or P-func posted somewhere that we should change up how we do the same things, and that we should make these changes frequently at irregular intervals. My gains began again when I incorporated that concept into my routines. Of course fixing my deit was the major issue but this helped out too IMHO.

My suggestion is to mix it up often.

try using dumbells for skull crushers. It's tough, you cant hold much weight and it comes down to being able to use proper form (palms facing your ears). the results are great.

For pushdown I use the V-handle. I don't typically do skull crushers.

Sounds like a plan, thanks. :thumb:

Yeah I try to incorporate dumbbell too. For some reason, when doing lying tricep exercises with a bar, I get a bad sensation in my shoulder. But when I lie with dumbbell(s), it's fine. I pretty much stick with CG bench and dumbbell extensions for Tris. Occasionally I'll use the cables.

i'm bias toward dumbells. it really shows whether you are lagging on your right or left side. i know for toting around a 30# toddler that my left side is much stronger than my right.

dumbbells rawk!

anywho, i like to do cable press dn's with the rope. i bring it down and really push out at the bottom and hold for a sec. it exhausts the tris in only a few reps.

you do get a GREAT burn with cables.

I currently do skulls with the straight bar - but mixing it up has to be the way to go.

yep. been stretching my forearm group, even been getting pain when curling with ez bar. has improved a lot since stretching. laziness....

Anyone get any wrist strain when doing CG Bench Presses? Not too narrow of grips either, were talking 4-6" between thumbs.

I do, I do. Also get them on standing barbell rows. No matter what I try grip wise my wrists experience some level of discomfort.

I was getting wrist pain with a very narrow grip like yours. I widened (is that a word?) my grip to about 12 inches and all pain went away. You may want to try a wider grip to see if the pain subsides.

my grip on cg bench press is about 12" apart also. it doesn't feel uncomfortable on my wrists either.
