Hey all, my question doesn't exactly relate to body building, but getting on a mountain bike and having fun. I'm asking the question here since I believe you all will have better answer, and more experience, when it comes to supplements. I live in Colorado, so I am either going up or down, and it seems my progress is extremely slow. I could stand to lose about 30lbs (currently at 190 or so, and I'm 5'9).
Energy Supplements
Caffeine: This is the foundation of the majority of "Energy Supplements on the market; Caffeine provides about 80% of the "Energy Effect".
With that in said, Caffeine Tables (which are cheap) or a cup of Coffee will work.
However, Caffeine has a Somogyi Effect. It spiking then dropping like a rock is in a fairly short period of time.
Guarana: It contains some Caffeine. Guarana has a much longer and milder effect than Caffeine.
It is inexpensive, as well.
There some other "Energy Based Supplements that you can add to the mix. However, I'd recommend you start Caffeine or Guarana and see how it works first.
Which supplements would you all recommend for fat loss,...
Fat Loss Supplments
The same supplement for energy increase the fat burning effect. However, you are only going to burn around an additional 80 calorie more a day.
In theory, that means you'd burn lose approximately 7/10 of a pound of body fat of in a month.
Diet
The key to weight/fat loss is a decrease in caloric intake, not supplements.
...and giving me that extra boost of energy while I push my bike up a 500-1000ft incline over few miles (which happens to be impossible for me at the moment, without stopping every 50 feet)?
Conditioning
Base on your information, the most effective method of increasing your endurance is to improve your conditioning with...
1) High Intensity Interval Training: This increased you anaerobic and aerobic capacity at the same time.
2) Long Slow Steady State Distance Endurance Training.
A good conditioning program will provide a greater benefit than supplements.
