Last night I was thinking what tuna and rice would taste like.

I cooked up 1 cup of brown rice, garlic, onion, tomato and black pepper then added the tuna and mixed in.

It was really good!

Anyone else tried something similar?

This should be in Healthy recipies. I knew that section was there but I overlooked it. Little help?

I've done the same thing, but instead of rice I used whole wheat pasta. It's delicious!

tuna, sundried tomatoes, chives, little bit of cream at the end to smooth out the texture. add to pasta or rice. nice.

Tuna gives me heartburn. That, and broccolli. Only two foods I fear.

I love them both.

?

Tuna only does that to me if I eat it right before I go to bed.

What should I combine tuna with to offset the associated digestive probs? Why is tuna a digestive problem?

Not sure, I don't know if it is the tuna, or the mayo I use it in, or something else.

I don't like mayo. The heartburn is worst from tuna straight from a can for me. Combined w/ pasta, sauces... it's a lot less of a problem. BTW - It's tuna in water most of the time. Oil, though... doesn't matter.

Apple Cider Vinegar is meant to help with heart burn.

Typical canned tuna is very high in sodium. This makes it very acidic. 1 can contains 25% of your RDI. You probably need less than 1/2 of your RDI unless you do a lot of physical activity in hot weather.

Tomato based pasta sauce is alkaline and would nuetralize some of the acidic effects of the canned tuna. I'm not sure why brocolli would give you heart burn though. Do you eat it plain?

I've actually started augmenting my love of juices w/ apple cider. I don't generally have digestive probs... just w/ tuna (I love fish!) and broccolli. Two different animals w/ the same affect on me.

Not apple cider. Apple cider Vinegar, two different things.

Okay, got it.

Many have sworn upon the effectiveness of that. Even before I came to this board or began working out. Apple Cinder Vinegar, water and honey, or something.

What would you suggest along those lines? ... as a daily regimine.

Experimental purposes.

ACV is good to have as a part of your diet.

But a few tablespoons a day would work, and if you are eating food that induces heartburn, try a shot of ACV.
