Yeah, it worked so well it won him the decision. :D

It won him the 2nd round, according to most. You're just mad stubborn. Talk to someone who has been slammed on their head, neck or back and tell them that they're pussies because Judo throws do nothing they are just cool looking takedowns.

I'll take MMA's opinion over you dude. I guess all the Judo spcialists like Karo who have worked Judo since he was like 10 years old come over to the UFC cause he knows that Judo gets no respect and that throws mean shit unless he can mount someone and bash their face in right after.

Fuck the decision too. Why you keep bringin that up? I already accepted that Diego won and it's easy to understand. I just don't understand how you dismiss Judo maneuvers.

Now you're putting words in my mouth. I never dismissed judo manuvers, I simply said they were glorified takedowns, which they are. I also never called anyone a pussy.

I've been slammed on my head before, it's no fun, but it didn't put me out, and it sure as hell didn't put Diego out. I'm just trying to make sense of the fact that people can justify a Karo victory based on a few judo throws that did nothing to improve his position. The whole reason one learns a skill is to put it to a practical use. If a field goal kicker just kicked a ball 68 yards but missed the field goal do you still give him the points because it was a long ass kick?? No. Karo did some cool judo throws, but did that help him move in for a submission, or a knockout, or even the decision? No. That's my point.

Fair enough. I don't want to argue anymore. Maybe it's just me because the crowd and commentators sounded like it was a unanimous decision and I was kinda wondering why. I thought it was closer personally and which ever way it went I understood. Diego's 3rd round gave him the edge and Karo's sluggishness in that round probably didn't help at all.

Then takedowns do nothing. Attempted submissions that don't result in tapout to do nothing. :hmmm:

Hmm.

No I dont think they do. I mean every attempted submission Ive seen that doesnt score a 'win' to me is useless. Other than getting winded, I dont see how a person gets victimized if they see through a submission without losing the fight.

So Matt Hughes body slamming someone on the mat with all his weight or Matt Hughes bending Royce Gracie's arm into an almost snapping position during a Kemora does nothing? To me it shows strength, technique and takes its toll on an opponent to where the agressor capitalizes as in those two examples (One against Trigg (twice), one against Gracie).

I definitely didn't think it was a unanimous decision, I thought it was damn close; but I think what the most exciting thing was (for everyone) the fact that the UFC has a legitimate undefeated young star. Karo is a tough mutha and is without a doubt in the top 5 in his class, and Diego (whether a person thought he won or lost the fight) showed undoubted skill and poise against a tough veteran. Do I think he's ready for a GSP, or a Matt Hughes, hell no, but damn he's fun to watch.

It does mean something, it shows the agressor/who is pushing the fight. If a boxer is always coming forward and his opponent retreats all the time, although the same amount of punches may be thrown/landed, the agressor will be seen as the victor.

Agreed. Most of the time this is the only deciding factor in these fights.

I was thinking that in the reply actually. If a fighter brings the fight to his opponent, then yeah, I can understand the decision. Nothing more boring than watching a fight with two fighters not doing shit..

I just cant deny the fact that if the submission doesnt get the opponent to submit, then its a failure. Which is why you either try it again or something new.

Im coming from a real basic standpoint here...

Again, I am almost ignorant to judges and their decisions. I like to see people submit or get knocked out, otherwise I could care less since I am watching it for entertainment.

Honestly, I think Hughes's body slams are for theatrics. Id bet if he used that energy elsewhere it would be more useful. BUT. Thats me. :D

Not always theatrics, remember Carlos Newton.
