Pepper said:I get soccer fans riled up when I say this, but soccer is the WORST thing to happen to American sports. Kids play it until they are 12 and then never play it again. In the meantime, it limits them in playing basketball, baseball or football.
I coach youth basketball, and anytime a kid tells me he is also playing soccer, I immediatly assume he will miss half the practices and 1/4 of the games.
I hate soccer.
I can see what you are saying, but I thought the point of getting kids involved in sports is to teach them the value of teamwork, working within a system of rules, and getting them active. Since when is the purpose of youth sports programs to groom kids for professional sports careers?
That said, I wouldn't let my kids play soccer if I had any. I'd want my kids of play sports where padding and equipment are involved instead of just running around chasing a ball.

The sports junkie in me has been enjoying watching the World Cup games though. I want to see England win so we can see the rioters burn England to the ground.
