The most obvious thing for visible serratus is low bf however is it a question of insane lat development that achieves this? or is it completely to do with diet? I say this as I have seen a few skinny guys now with them visible, yet lack the lats I would of assumed would of been needed?
People with them, are you still able to see them while putting on weight? Or is it a 0 - 10% bf sort of thing?

It's just like seeing any other muscle. It's going to be visible with a balance of muscular development and body fat level. There are also always going to be exceptions to the rule who have good genetics, tie-ins, etc.

Personally, mine disappear when I get fat.

It depends. Mine are visible now, even though I barely have a 4-pack in the right light. Then again, I'm a huge fan of pullovers, and I do some odd things on chest/push days that probably helped develop them.

I think skinny guys with no lats probably have them because they're doing bench presses wrong. Not tucking the scapula and using the shoulders to push up at lockout will work the serratus. If you want bigger serratus, at the end of each set of incline bench, while the bar is at lockout, push up with just shoulder motion... basically stop retracting your scapula and do 'forward shrugs' for 10 reps.

it is just like everything else...
genetics!
my serratus apears before any abs because I am naturally thick around my ribcage. I carry more weight around my hips so therefore my abs are the last thing visible.
but it doesnt matter because its different for everyone.
just look at pro bbers no two are alike yet they train for "perfection"
