OCALA, Fla. â?????? A federal judge has sentenced action star Wesley Snipes to the maximum three-year sentence on tax charges.
Prosecutors had requested the maximum three-years, one year for each of Snipes' convictions of willfully failing to file a tax return.
Snipes' attorneys had argued for a shorter sentence during the penalty phase, which lasted the until the early evening. A jury found him guilty in February of willfully failing to file taxes for three years, in which the government said he owed $2.7 million.

Rich and famous and he has to go fuck it up.

Wesley Snipes = moron.

Agreed. Like 2.7 million means dick to him, if you're getting taxed that much you're doing alright for money.

What a douche.

Good.

Does this mean no more Blade movies? :(

I sure hope he doesn't wear this in there.....I wonder where he brought it?

Just another example of "the man" keeping the blacks down.

"Prosecutors had requested the maximum three-years, one year for each of Snipes' convictions of willfully failing to file a tax return."

..and they wont get it.

Quite frankly, I dont think he should. Tax evasion? Jesus christ.

LOL :roflmao: Here we go again with that ohh am so mistreated sh*t

Sentence was harsh I think, it's not like he's a threat to the public. I'd have just made him pay 2-3x what he owed and do a load of community service, the govt would get their money back, and he'd be humiliated, I think that's fair.

Although I'm unsure of how it works in federal prison (I think there are extra rules regarding early release), I'd think that he would be out a lot sooner than 3 years.

Fuck that, how is what he did any different than stealing $2.7 million from a bank? He purposely did not pay taxes, he was believing that shit about not having to pay, and was trying get other to stop paying taxes.

It's highly unlikely that he will serve 3 years, and whatever time he does serve will be in a country club type jail.

Actually, barring him getting into a special program (such as M. Vick) federal guidelines require an individual to serve 90% of their sentenced time.

He's screwed...

I think it's humorous how many people get their asses bent out of shape when a corporation tries to dodge paying taxes (such as off-shoring work), but when a person does it, it's "not that bad."

Not only that, but so many people also get ass hurt about the rich not paying enough, but a rich actor tries to pay zero taxes and it's "no big deal."

Is this the part where they cryogenically freeze him and then 50 years from now he thaws out and runs rampant in the city? Then they have to thaw out some badass cop who had previously gone vigilante?

He was great in "Major League." One of the best baseball movies out there.

That said, fuck 'em. The stupid cock nostril.

Generally, I associate armed men storming a bank and threatening the lives of the patrons when I think of bank robbery, and yes, I certainly think that is different from tax evasion.... He isn't violent, he's just stupid and wants to keep his money. Make him pay more and do a ton of embarrassing community service. The solution is to put him in federal prison and pay for his housing+food+medical/dental for 3 years, costing the govt more money?

Corporations are evil, didn't you get the memo?

Holy Jesus....

I am actually going to agree.

oh yeah I forgot white collar crime doesn't hurt anyone, right? Go bust the street thug, please tell me your education of criminal justice goes further than that? (I hope)

I don't give a shit if he is violent or not, going to jail is not just about violence...

Actually it won't cost anything because they will recoup the $2.7 million plus interest and penalties, so it's pays for itself. And the main goal is not to punish him (that just the funny part), it's to make an example out of him to prevent the rest of the stupid ass rich celebrities from trying to outsmart Uncle Sam. :thumb:

"Street Thug" doing what exactly? I made no mention of any other crime, or about busting any 'street thug,' whatever that means. Nor did I say no one is hurt by white color crime. I said he's nonviolent and he is not threatening the public safety, which was in response to your genius analogy comparing tax evasion to someone holding up a bank. I'm sure we can all rest easier knowing the menace that is Wesley Snipes is in prison for 3 years.

You think justice is sending someone to prison for 3 years for avoiding income tax for 3 years? Oh wait, you said the goal isn't justice, or even punishment, it's to "make an example out of him." This is America, not the USSR.

ABSO-FUCKING-LUTELY! :thumb:

I am sick of the "elite" or "rich" or whatever the fuck you want to call them, thinking they are better than everyone else. The middle class supports this country yet we are the ones that get fucked the hardest. Wesley Snipes is a multi-millionaire, he needs to pay his fucking taxes just like I do, fuck him and every millionaire or celebrity that thinks they are above the law.

And yes, they gave him a 3 year prison sentence to make an example out of him. The next celebrity, and/or millionaire that thinks they don't need to fork over 38% of their millions every year in taxes will now think twice, don't ya think? :thumb:

I don't think you, me, John Doe, or Wesley Snipes deserves 3 years of prison for not paying federal income tax for 3 years. His celebrity status had what to do with his crime exactly? It sounds like you want him punished for who he is, not what he did, because that is the only thing you focus on. You're whining about celebrities getting special treatment, and in the very same breath expressing your desire for him to get special (especially harsh) treatment because he is a celebrity. That is hypocrisy.

It's is a bit disconcerting knowing he's going to jail for 3 years for 3 misdemeanors. Let's not forget that he was acquitted of all felony charges!

I understand both arguments but side with him getting little or no jail time based on the convictions. People should be judged on their own actions not made examples of to frighten others.

Misdemeanors people! This doesn't concern anyone else?

EQUAL justice for all. i think him doing 3 years is bullshit. i think he should just be made to pay three times what he owes.
