What do you consider is the best thing you've seen at a live sporting event?

For example, I have a couple:

I once saw Mats Sundin score six goals against the Hartford Whalers (when he played for Quebec).

A few seasons back, I saw Pedro Martinez pitch four times at Fenway. One of those games, he struck out 17.

Good stuff!

I was at Fenway when Roger Clemens struck out 20.

The best for me though has to be the Stanley Cup playoffs back in the 80's between Boston and Edmonton. The night that not only did the game go double overtime, but there was also a power failure. The old Garden ice was covered in a fog through most of the game and you could barely see the puck. Unfortunately the Bruins lost the series to the Great One and his group of superstars.

The first time, or the second time Clemens struck out 20?

I remember that Bruins game. I guess there was fog on the ice because the a/c died. :D

I was there the first time he did it. Funny thing is that I'm not even a baseball fan. Someone gave a friend some tickets and I had nothing better to do that day. Who would have thought I'd see something like that.

It wasn't so much that the a/c died but that they were playing a game in the Garden in May. They didn't design the building properly to handle ice when it was so warm outside, but there was no better place to watch a game. I had season tickets for years until they built the Fleece Center (Ok it's Fleet, but with the prices they charge there...). Now I'm lucky if I go to one or two games a year.

I've only been to one NHL game since the Whalers moved to Carolina. :( I went a B's game earlier this year (Philly spanked them).

I practically lived in Boston Garden during the 80's. I missed only 3 Bruins games in a 7 year span. Now that I'm married and have kids and a house, tickets for games are a very low priority. I'm content to just sit in the living room and watch.

How about those Whaler's? Ok, they're Canes now, but damn they are playing some good hockey all of a sudden. Looks like the Leafs have their hands full.

I was at Skydome when Jose Canseco launched a ball into the upper deck (5th deck) off a Toronto pitcher (can't remember the pitcher name). First ever ball to reach the 5th deck

Yankee Stadium - 4th of July. My first baseball game. Dave Rigetti (sp?) pitched a no hitter. It was awesome!

That was against the Red Sox. :( 1979, I believe.

1980-81 (?) Final game of the World Series. Tug McGraw in relief pounding his thigh with his mitt. Pete Rose on first, Mike Schmidt on third. When the last out was made it was like a magic show except instead of rabbits being pulled out of hats it was bottles of booze being pulled out of coat pockets. Simultaneously however many thousands of people whipped out their bottles, cracked them open, took a swig and passed them to the next person. Didn't even know the guy sitting next to me but as long as he kept passing the bottles he was my best friend in the whole world. :thumb:

(they changed their name, it's now the WWE)

I saw the Survivor Series way back when. It was the event at which The Undertaker made his first appearance. Nobody knew who the hell the guy was, and he was walking all over the top ropes. Sweeet.

I would have loved to see the wwe have any of you dudes ever seen aussie rules?

I've seen aussie rules on tv but never live.
Best live game I've ever seen was this year super 12 final betwen the Canterbury Crusaders and ACT Brumbies. Final score 31 to 13 to the crusaders. Atmosphere at that game was awersome. And for the people that don't konw what the super 12 is its a rugby union competion between teams from Australia South Africa and of course New Zealand

we got the rugby bledisloe cup thing coming to Australia 100,000 people already sold out or something ridiculous like that that will be incredible
