What is the difference between pro hormones and steroids?

They are in the same class as steriods in the legal system. The NFL considers testing positive for PH the same as testing positive for steriods.

No, technically a pro-hormone is a compound such as 1-AD, which has to be converted before it is an active hormone in the body, i.e. 1-testosterone.
Steroids are active hormones, no conversion is necessary.
However, from a legal perspective they are now all classified as anabolic steroids, that is what we think is rediculous about the ban.
I can understand putting compounds such as M1T in the illegal anabolic steroid category becuase it is, but not compounds like 1-AD.
There are also many steroids that are not test.
