What is the "weirdest" thing you've blended...

... into a protein shake.

It's nearly impossible to eat 6-8 times a day. So we buy whey protein and blend that with milk to supplement. Pretty soon, if you're like me, you wanna get 'creative'. I've done all the assorted berries, soy nuts, peanuts, wheat germ, yogurt... "old fridge matter about to turn green".

What do you blend into your shakes?
 
oat bran, yogurt, skim milk, whey, frozen raspberries
 
Whey protein 'frappucinos'

1-2 cups ice
30 g choc/vanilla whey
Shot of strong coffee or instant


Frozen blueberries
Cinnamon
Vanilla whey

Frozen bananas
Frozen strawberries
Vanilla whey

I know someone on one of the UK boards that has natural whey and he puts broccolli and green tea in his smoothies, with egg.

Some of the weirdest combos I have seen, mind you, he is Welsh :D

I'm actually thinking about putting some veggies in the godforsaken concoctions. Hell, you just "down it" anyway.

Anyone have a cure for the "bloat and slight nausea" you have for 20 minutes after a protein shake. BTW - I'm not lactose intolerant.

I do not get any bloat but I take 15-20 minutes to drink my shake and it is kept to 16-20oz max. So if it is like 40oz and drank fairly quickly, I would have some short term bloat and possible nausia as well. How much is your shake and how fast do you down it?
 
16oz. Thick. As fast as I can.

Surely, somebody experiences this.
 
I tried going with a half cup of fatfree cottage cheese in some of my shakes for a while. Talk about disgusting.
 
Peanut butter, bannanas, apples, watermellon, pears.... That's about it. Currently, it's just the straight whey except post work out which is (oat bran, yogurt, soy milk, whey, frozen raspberries). I usually get ON, but recently I picked up a container of cytosports vanilla bean to change it up a little. It has a different amino blend and taste pretty good.

its pritty good but the oats are a pain in the ass to get out of the blender
 
I know of people who have made 'tuna shakes', personally I cant imagine it being very appealing. I did a huge fruit shake once, milk, yoghurt, banana, orange, apple and avacado, and let me tell you, putting the avacado was the biggest mistake ever! it tasted absolutely disgusting, i gagged a few times trying to drink it. Never ever put avacado into a shake!
