Cornering  :hmmm: ?

I'm not argueing that bowlers can be heavy. You make it seem like its so easy. Those fat asses would own you in bowling. Just because you don't have to be in great shape to play the sport doesn't make it insignificant.

Still aint a sport.

"Cornering" was part YOUR definition of playing sports, not mine.

I never said bowling was easy, i don't know where you get that. Sure, those guys would most definitely bowling, but that STILL doesn't make it a sport.

Once again, a sport takes ATHLETIC ABILITY. Does throwing a ball down a lane constitute athleticism? Sure, about as much as playing pinball.

Or shooting pool.

I just don't get the appeal of watching someone drive in a circle for 500 miles. Where's the satisfaction and athletic grace? Compare it to Jordan driving the lane or Sweetness breaking off tackle.

couldn't agree more with ya bro. Nascar is an event for trailer trash as far as I am concerned.

Just b/c something isn't easy doesn't make it worthwhile or important, or a sport for that matter. Bowlers are clowns with zero athletic talent. It makes me want to puke when I see that nonsense on ESPN. Why not show some powerlifting championships instead of racing or pool or bowling or teh spelling bee, where the hell are our priorities anyways?

BTW he is right about soccer, it is THE mostpopular sport in eth world and these other activities are no where near it with the exception of boxing and x-games shit

you don't really appreciate how amazing they are and how simple they make it look unless you played

You could say the same thing about all the sports/games that you make fun of. Not enough scoring in soccer for me. It just goes back and forth to much. What about cycling? Do you enjoy that?
I would watch powerlifting if they would show it. I have been to two comps in person. They are awesome.
Not what else is good. The lumberjack sports that they show on ESPN.

Sure, they you absolutley appreciate those more if you do them.

But the only difference is that those (...nascar, bowling) weren't sports ;)

The only times that I have watched an entire soccer game on TV is when I was working in Spain and several of us went out to a bar to watch Real Madrid play. In a setting like that, with lots of people cheering and jeering, drinks flowing, people watching at its finest, etc, it was enjoyable. I certainly wouldn't watch an entire game if I were at home.

I get a cable channel which is soccer oriented. Last night they were showing highlights of several European games. They would show sequences leading up to shots on goal, whether or not there was actually a goal scored. Since they cut out all the back and forth stuff, they could show an entire game's highlights in just a few minutes. That, at least, was entertaining.

You mean aren't sports.
and your wrong.

Sport - Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively.

Game - A competitive activity or sport in which players contend with each other according to a set of rules.

www.Dictionary.com

Physical Activity is is bodily movement produced by skeletal muscle contraction resulting in a substantial increase in energy expenditure (3,6). Physical activity has both an occupational and leisure basis that includes both active recreation pursuits like golf, tennis, and swimming. It also includes other active pastimes like gardening, cutting wood, and carpentry. Physical activity can provide progressive health benefits and be a catalyst for improving health attitudes, health habits, and lifestyle (7).

So you're gonna tell me gardening and carpentry are sports??? :hmmm:
Then Jesus Christ is the greatest athlete of all time, too bad i didn't get him on my fantasy carpentry team.

Your little definitions still don't make Nascar or bowling a sport.

Did I say that if so where?

Literacy is important. I requoted the definition of Sport and then Physical Activity which was a part of the definition of Sport now you put two and Two together and no it doesn't equal 3. :D

Yeah Nascar I don't necessarily agree with, but according to these defs. Yes they both could be defined as sports

I understand "physical activity" is in the definition of a "sport", but so is carpentry and gardening, which is why i said that, wiseass.

How does carpentry and gardening fit into this description?

Yes they are Physical activities but when applied to the definition of a sport they do not apply as so. So there for 2+2 does not equal 3

How so? They are physical activities governed by rules and engaged in competitively.

I am not saying I agree with the Defintion. Cause we all fucking know Driving a car ain't a sport.

How so?

Because then video games would be considered sports.

video games are not physical. Then you will say "well driving a car then isn't either". Again, have you ever drivin a muscle car? They are very hard to steer. A 16 year old girl would have a hard time with driving one of them. A 16 year old girl would have no problem playing video games. :p

Well I guess first off The Name Video "Game" pretty much answers the question :D

Do you consider Video Games physical activities?

Are they Governed by a set of rules?

Engaged in Competively?

Video games are just as physical as driving a "muscle car". You ever played Mario Kart?

So?

Basketball, baseball and football alike are all "games".

IainDaniel said:

No, but that was my point. They are as physical as driving a car or bowling.

I find that hard to believe. Driving a car isn't the Same as a racing a car nor bowling.

Flex said:
What set of rules is that?

Flex said:

This is the only part that may fall under the definition, ie Competitions
