I need motivation. Please share.

I'm fat. And old.

..... sorry that's not exactly motivating.

 dammit. me too and that's NOT motivating.

Well if you think about it the more you delay and hold off getting strict with dieting and working out, the harder it is going to be the older you get. If you look around, all the time people around you are talking about dieting and exercising to try to lose weight. Are you just another person or are you different? Are you going to keep saying "I'll get strict tomorrow"? I mean it's up to you ,but when I'm 60 I want to be running marathons. I want to be able to be outside mowing my grass at 75 years old. The fattening foods and the laziness that keeps you from working out is all in your head. Once you become your own person and understand that you tell your body what it gets no matter what, then and only then will you have the body you have kicked your ass first.

true story.

my grand daughter will be 2 this summer and i would like to be around for graduation and her wedding...

My original motivation years ago was to look good at the beach. Difficult as a smoker. I joined the military, got married, had a son, worked 50-60 hours a week, lost interest and got older and fatter over the next 25 years. I did quit smoking 14 years ago so that was a plus.

My enlightening moment came in Sept 2009 via a heart attack and 5-way bypass. It seems my lifestyle had caught up to me. After returning home from the hospital and spending the next 3 weeks living on the couch in a sitting position eating only fruit, oatmeal and jello I'd noticed I was much thinner. I had lost over 30 pounds and 4 inches off my waist. The massive belly I had for years (shown in my posted pics) was significantly reduced. I now had hope that I could eat healthier and continue to get in shape. I've been working towards my "Better Health, Better Body" goal since then and have dropped BF, added muscle mass and feel much better. I still have along way to go but I feel better, eat better, have a new lifestyle and hopefully look better. I now feel disappointed when I don't or can't work out.

I've lifted for most of my life - but as my own private venture - not because I looked up to someone who did, or even did it w/ anyone else. I started way before they even had "women's areas" in gyms, even tho I've been invited out of a gym or two for lifting in the free weights area.. OMG I'm female! I do it because I sit at a desk all day, and its a physical outlet I need so I can sleep better at night. It lets me challenge myself to accomplish something new every day - one more rep, the next heaviest DB, one more plate, a new exercise.. whatever .. and why? Because I can dammit! Its 1-2 hrs /day that I can go zone out & listen to my favorite heavy metal, and the whole program gives me structure to me day. Otherwise I'd go home after work & park in front of the TV w/ a pizza every night. I'm almost 45 and I've never been accused of being older than 35.

In terms of motivation - when I get sick of feeling like a slob in the off season, that's when I just suck it up & get to the gym. Once I'm there, the rest falls into place. The biggest challenge is just getting myself there. In terms of seeing results, I know, from my own experience, that it takes a good 3 weeks of honestly tight dieting (not starving, just clean & on my schedule), lifting & consistent cardio to see results. Anything less than that & I stall out out and have to refocus again. But once my burn rate is established, it hums. And nothing tastes better than feeling lean in your own skin.

Yeah wow.

OK how 'bout this: it's for sex. I feel better when I work out, whether it be cardio or weights, but it's the abdominal stuff that I REALLY like. :) Has anyone ever asked you if you can orgasm by doing crunches? Yes, indeedy.

.... aaaaand another reason I'm hesitant to go over to the heavy weight section of the gym. Although others might like it.

yessssss. the abdominal stuff made me so horny i was ready to kill vanity (for the 300 miles and a bitch ass border between us) and you can cum way faster, i noticed this reaching up to adjust the water in the tub, an unexpected crunch like movement n hellllo WTH was THAT??? :lol:i also like the constant just enough pain in your ass cheeks from squats... :daydream: the long distance relationship made the increased libido VERY frustrating though.

but now...

motivation

hey, you make do with what you got, we have the phone and the internet 'till this summer.. now if i can just convince him to do some naked jungle cock dancing. :daydream:  :dont:

At least yours seems to be able to entertain the notion. Mine won't even do IM sex. :(

make it really clear to him that it hurts to be sexually neglected and that part of your relationship needs to be resolved. be ready to walk away if he's not willing to do what it takes to fix it. his lack of concern for you this way will show itself in other areas as well, either he's willing to work toward a relationship where your needs, ideas and opinions matter too or he isn't... if he isn't move on.

^ see .

we need a good devil smiley.

Kathybird check your im mailbox.

^ i almost used that 1.

For me I like feeling and looking good.

looking good naked! . . or at least looking respectable naked

Take this example, take the case of a weight gain of ten to fifteen pounds by a woman who has reached menopause. If she had previously been in top physical condition, has a job that requires interaction with members of the fashion industry, and enjoys looking slim and attractive in her expensive clothes, she will likely be well motivated to take off the weight and keep it off. That weight is painful for her.

I dont see anything wrong with a woman who has a few extra pounds.

Most men like a Big ass on a chick. Maybe its just my Sicilian genes or something. But for the most part, tiny, flat asses are so pathetic looking.

I like a good 40 inch ass. Waist must be tapered though. Thick thighs are awesome too. Just make sure you dont have those huge Oprah Winfrey arms. Uhhh, thats repulsive.

That would be the problem, right there. Women can't manipulate where the weight goes. Me, I'm an apple. And my blue collar Irish genes are making themselves known more and more as I age. I'm short, so 5 lbs looks like 15 on me, weight goes on the belly and arms.

It IS interesting that, while I'm not losing any weight with this so far, some of the weight has migrated towards my hips and legs. Weight, fat, muscle, whatever it is. My waist is a hair smaller. Thighs are definitely bigger, although a lot stronger. Arms aren't smaller, but not as jiggly. The belly looks better. So I really haven't gotten "rid" of any of my problem areas, but they look a little better now, and I'm slightly in better proportion because other areas are BIGGER.

i noticed my weight staying relatively the same sometimes but my pants got looser... muscle n fat are two very different beasts. your arms and the rest will get leaner just stick with it.

Since you can't really "spot reduce", you lose bodyfat proportionally across your body - snce, due to estrogen, most women carry a higher concentration of fat cells in what we call "those problem areas", when you drop a % bodyfat, its more apparent on the areas where there's a lower concentration of fat cells. And also, as you're seeing, you're also experiencing a shift in your body composition by the development of more lean muscle mass. So its absolutely not a linear thing. You just have to keep going at it until you're happy w/ the "look", and then decide if you want maintain or change something further. Your body can only reflect your natural hormone balance + your lifestyle. Many people think they can stop "dieting" when they reach 'their goal", but the reality is that fitness is a journey, not a destination. You can't ever really "stop" - just establish and maintain a lifestyle that supports your goals.

Oh, do all the things you like. If net porn is an activity you enjoy, then by all means, do it. But budget your time. Make a schedule when you'll work out, surf for porn, do laundry, the yard work etc. The media doesn't feature success stories of older men who look buffed and strong unless the media has something to sell you. There are photos of this psychiatrist who uses free weights while he listens to his patients. He's 70 years of age and man, is he buffed! Every day you do not begin your training is a day your body marches toward the grave. Studies show those who exercise live longer. Start slow is the most important thing. Give yourself ONE YEAR! At the end of that year you should have incentive to continue.

i forgot about this thread but if you can keep a secret... i actually convinced him to send me a video of naked jungle cock dancing :dont:
