I'm looking to buy a good amount of cheap, but good protein to add to my meals since I don't get nearly enough of it. But I was wodering what the best type of protein to get is. The one I always hear and read about is whey, but I also read that it gets absorbed very quickly and you might just end up crapping it out rather than absorbing the protein if your body doesn't need it right then and there.......which is no doubt quite a waste of money.

Are there any other proteins that would be better than whey, or is it possible to slow down the absorption of whey by adding some fiber at the same time? I'm looking for a good protein that I can take several times a day but would like to know that it's actually getting absorbed.

I've been taking a look at this site, but first I think I need to understand what type of protein is best for a given part of my day.

Whey is best for post workout when your muscles need protein and need it right away. Casien protein is slow releasing.

100% whey by optimun nutrition is a good choice. You can slow the absorption of whey by eating it with carbs, fat and other kinds of proteins. For instance when people make shakes here a lot of them add heavy whipping cream. You can also eat some cottage cheese for example with your whey and this will also slow absorption. And you say you want to use the way several times a day (that rymes) but don't get carried away. Eat as much real food as you can and don't overload on the whey.
