The US gov has 3 ways to deal with this debt, IMO:

1. pay it off.

2. refuse to pay it off in entire

3. inflate it's way out (print money, devalue the dollar, cause inflation).

#1 and #2, no.

#3 - possibly. It's an old tactic that has been used before in history.

between the House and the Senate the voting is split between party lines at about 92% for the House Dems and 88% for Repubs. In the Senate the Dems are at 90% and GOP at 80%.

The republicans have voted against every single piece of key legislation. Now that John Boehner is the new Speaker this trend will definitely continue for the rest of Obama's term. The GOP will use the lack of economic progress as a key point during the next election.
