Ok i have my first grappling tournament on saturday, and i am pondering 3 things...

1. what to eat the night before ( i hear chicken and pasta)
2. what to eat before the match (matches start at 10 a.m. and weigh ins are at 8.am - 11a.m.)
3. if i should drink an energy drink before the matches (ive read that studies show caffeine increases endurace)

well the night before i had a big wrestling tournament i ate chicken and pasta but you have to watch how much you eat because you dont want to be overweight and bein overweight is a bitch you have to put some sweats on and run the treadmill for what seems to be forever i know bout that shit but the best thing to eat in my opinion is chicken and past and before the match some granola bars or do good i never really liked the whole energy drink thing because of the crash that comes after and it really sucks crashing whille you are on the mat wrestling

Immediatley, yes. But at the price of a crash in energy after the initial spike.

It all depends were your weight is at. If you are under weight pasta and chicken are fine. However if you are like most wrestlers you aren't. Do what it takes to make weight. Weighin early. Hydrate with gatoraid and carb load with good complex carbs like breads, pastas, cereals. Good multivitamen and mineral and vitamin c. Take a nap if you can. Stay away from caffine and really sugary stuff. It will make you crash and make you jittery/sick. You will have enough adrenaline going on the matt to wake you up if you are really into what you are doing. Good luck.:thumb: Stick to gatoraid and complex carbs in between matches fat is ok if you have time to let it digest.
