What's the most painful thing that has happened to you?

Thanks for your candid response DOMS. I also did not realize that you had children- but I'm sure there is a lot I don't know about you- you are a man of mystery...Hell for all I know BigDyl has a entire school of kids. :shake:

Man of mystery?

You only have to ask.

Not my "worst"...but I had my 1st sinus infection this week. OMG!!!!! Ear infection too. I thought those "sinus" people were Weak and looking for an excuse to complain all the time. :blah: I never believed in PMS until this year either. I thought it was a woman's excuse to whine and bitch. :finger:

I am now an official believer in both!

I've had some painful experiences. Childbirth (almost died...literally) with no epidural once...2 days. I had some female procedures such as having dye pushed through my fallopian tubes; cervical biopsy (thought the dr was pulling my cervix OUT of my body!) :( I had shots of my (then) husband's white blood cells...shot into my thighs. They would give me about 6-12 shots in each thigh...boom, boom, boom. It hurt so bad I passed out. The next week I had big welts on my legs... Ugh...I'd forgot about that!

However, most pain is temporary.
Somehow your brain knows it will be over soon.

I cannot imagine having chronic pain. When I was pregnant...I had terrible hip pain. I couldn't sleep on either side...it just ached soooo deep. I remember being in bed with tears in my eyes thinking...at least it would be over with in 3 months. I thought a lot about people in chronic pain???and them not knowing if it might end.

I think that might be the worse...

(although that cement dropping on the toe sounded bad!)

 why

My chronic back pain is bad, but the scars left that night when Bigdyl rolled over and pretended to be asleep hurt me every time I think about it....

damn thats a good song

Considering there is a member at Kungfu Magazine: Feature Index posting under the nane of gunnedowned attrocity , a 27 yr old hottie daddy and martial artist battling luekemia ( and check out his body shots if you reeally want some inspiration ) and it's treatments and because ii don't reeally want to post my own embarrassing list of sh*t i have dealt with pain wise that would likely make most your blood curdle to even consider trying to try on.. pls just let me lol and go "awww :( ".. pain hurts indeed.
thanks.

Getting my wisdom teeth out. I didn't want the Anesthesia so they said they'd keep me awake and still be able to eliminate the pain :nope: ... All they did was give me a little novocaine. I was 100% conscious and felt pretty much everything. The slicing of my gums, sawing or whatever of my teeth plus the bone dust going in my eyes and nose, digging around in my gums with the hook thing and yanking with pliers, blood gargling, sewing my gums back up ect ect. I came out of the dentist's office shaking and almost in shock or something. It sucked. The 40 percs helped ease my mind, but other than that I wanted to hurt someone.

Did you inform the doctor that the pain medication wasn't working?

I was walking fast and cracked my patella on a stationary bike pedal i was on the ground for about 10 minutes till i decided to do something like call for help lol. One time i got hit so hard playing rugby i swear i had an internal organ bust.

In '01 I shattered my humerus and blew out my rotator cuff benching

The guys on the other side of the gym later told me it sounded like a broomhandle cracking (but louder)

(drove myself to the emergency room)
:flex:

hmm.. I've suffered acute liver failure every cpl of days for the last few yrs where only 10-20% of ppl live through Onne episode dying in painful fits and cramps and spasms.. .

.. and had a cesarian section childbirth!.. they cut you open, put your insides on the table down to your bowels and intestines and stuff, remove the baby and shovel it all back in..

now thaat is a pain worthy of drugs!..every 6 minutes for daaays :D.:roflmao:

mine probally after breaking my jaw in 3 places in a fight, didnt feel it till the next morn (i was very very drunk). it killed after they reset it and wired my gums together.

or actually it could've been the time i got my dick pierced..... was very drunk and seemed like a good idea at them time

I fell down the stairs and twisted my ankle so badly that my foot bled inside and all the blood collected inside my toes - I couldnt walk on it for 6 weeks and it sucked. I hope never to go through that again... I think I swore a bit too...

When I had my face sliced open w/ a box cutter...the doc had to shoot the novacaine or whatever numbing agent into the open wound before he could stitch it closed...22 shots...THAT hurt.

Or...when I chipped my hip from a bicycling accident; the doc had to scrub the wound w/ a plastic aggitator brush to clean it...

yah. it probably seemed like a good idea to do it wrong too:clapping:. I don't think it's meant to hurt like that. .. but if you just wanted to tell us you have that done.. then that's okay:D.

Last year when my snowmobile rolled over me. Stupid me was on his back and put his arms up as it rolled over me and tore both of my rotator cuffs. Yeah, that hurt, and hurt, and hurt because both arms were damaged and I couldnt do ANYTHING without pain.
I knew the doctor would want to cut on me so I decided to try to get them to heal on their own through my own physical therapy. I started out with arm weight lateral raises and once I could hit horizontal I slowly moved up to 2 and 5 lb dumbbells. Luckily they werent completely torn and healed on their own because after one year I am now stronger in the shoulders than I was before the accident.

You dont realize how many exercises and lifts involve the shoulders until you cant use them :wits:

I watched that very thing when my wife had her C-section. I was very empathetic to her pain because I saw all of her insides on the outside of her and knew that had to hurt as they tried to reposition themselves after they were put back inside and she was sewn up.

It's crazy to think that so many people who don't know they can heal on their on own will alloww themselves to be cut and messed with !.
Crazy world when you start to think you're broken.

i know the pain of a torn rotator cuff messed it up in wrestling a few years ago. didnt hurt for a few months thought it was healed guess it didnt heal up over the summer before football. started to play my shoulder hurt i couldnt even throw a damn ball only thing i could do was wear a pad under my shoulder pads to try and keep some of the impact off my shoulder when i was running the ball or trying to tackle someone went to the docs half was through the season and they told me either i have surgery or never play sports again i chose surgery. the surgery sucked ass i couldnt lift or anthing for 4 months i was pissed

I think Doctors do that because the alternatives for most people involve total lifestyle overhauls which most people are just not prepared to do.
My uni is trying to con me into a DPT ( doctor of PhysioTherapy) via sports science atm because they believe that with all this information coming from the east that there will begin to be a shift in how the majority of the population manage their health and recovery and so on.
It definately helps to be in shape and good health when these unexpected demand or injuries hit us but I think it was Aristotle who said a good surgeon is one who never operates. ..and he is remembered in history as the godfather of medicine.
No joke surgery sux. I was planning on studying bio-medicine into general practice myself, and specialisng for surgery later on..
but.. maybe they're right.. it's probably a lot of work from here but maybe there arre other things we can do.

ever since that surgery i have kinda wanted to get into either sports medicine or physiotherapy.

It iis usually how stuff like searching or discovering alternative practice and so on comes about., You get into a spot..or care about someone else who is a spot, get presented with something or other solution and think there might be a better or more effective or wholistic way to go about it..

my Uni is Bond University in Queensland Australia. They have one of the best reps in the country and theey are soo godammed excited about this new DPT they've introduced because they really think that is where the future is.. It would be quite cool to see more ppl in other countries supporting the movement aswell.. although there are probably quite a few related facets that would do that anyway. check us out here Study at Bond University .

i'm not sure i don't lovve the idea and not to derail the thread, but good luck with where ever you go with it. At worst it's maybe worth a look anyway.

4 broken bones in the face, broken ankle, broken wrist/ arm in 2 places, broken fingers & dislocations, pinched nerve in the back inducing 24/7 terrible headaches, cutting out ingrown toenails. All go into the category of ouch.
