does anyone know whether it is better to mix protein whey in water or milk. the shopkeeper where i bought the whey said use milk for best results but a friend of mine told me that it's better to use water, especially straight after a workout, because of lactate acids or something. i'm not sure so any help would be appreciated. thanks, ac

Ok, here's what I've heard, could be BS for all I know.
Milk coats your stomic and will slow absorbtion down so use water.

Here's how I see it, I like the tast of Whey when mixed with milk better so I mix with milk before bed, I'd want slower absorbtion then anyway cause I'm going to bed.
Durring the day, I mix it with water for quicker absorbtion.

Either way, whey is good for ya!

Scotty is right, Ive read that many times. Take this for example: I puked once at the gym after drinking milk with my protein and it came out looking like brown cottage cheese. The last time I puked I was taking protein with water/koolaid mixture. And nothing. (Pretty sick) But that nudged me to take it with water.

i think whatever works for you is the best. about the lactic acid though, basically, milk products are harder to digest than normal foods for some people, especially after a killer workout. so if you feel like you're going to puke, you should probably mix it with water... :O

Thanks. This is what I needed to read before my breakfast!

I have a friend who is getting ready for a competition in May and his trainer has taken him off all milk because it supposidly inhibits vascularization and the sugar in it is suppose to be bad...........

YOUR WELCOME!

if you don't have any problem tolerating lactose, you aren't worried about the extra calories from sugar and you want your whey to taste better than use milk
