Sorry if I missed the answers, but I just started taking Whey protein, GNC's Chocolate flavor, and was wondering about how much I should be taking and when to pound the shake.

This probably could even go into a poll:
How much protein do you intake a day?
When do you slam your shake?

Thanks for the help :thumb:

Protein powder is a supplement and we use it as such :D

The object is keep yourself in positive nitrogen balance by ingesting amino peptides at regular intervals during your waking hours! Solid food always come first, we use powders when we can't get to food, for time convenience, for a quality assimilable hit of protein...

Personally I perfer to eat a solid breakfast, lunch and dinner, and then use powders for mid-morning, aka breakfast #2, mid-afternoon, aka second lunch, and before bed....this doesn't always mean shakes however, there are puddings/frostings, crepes, cakes and other things you can make w/PP :D

I know some that only use em PWO (post workout)..and those that only use em when rushed.....SOLID FOOD ALWAYS COME FIRST! JMHO :D

Hey thanks guys!

The only times I use whey as a protein source is 30 minutes before training, and immediately after training. The amount you use is based on your overall consumption for the day. Most of my "meals" contain around 60 g of protein each. So, my pre-workout whey contains the same 60 or so grams, however, I have been finding great benefit to using even more protein at my post workout feeding...up to 90g.

I have a 50g whey shake right after training and then sometimes when I know work is going to be crazy I mix another one as soon as I get to work for a mid afternoon or late afternoon meal (which ever time I am most busy). If I don't drink it, I usually kill it on the train ride home.

Thanks for all the advice, since reading your posts I have started slamming a 40g shake at lunch at work and upped my post workout shake to 60g. Hope to see some gains soon!
