Hey everyone,

I tried doing a search and looking on other websites, but I think just coming right out and asking is the easiest way to do this:) --

I am about 8 wks out from a figure comp; 15% bf...after a month of dieting my fat loss is slowing down a bit. Other than retooling my diet (less carbs, more protein, cleaner foods) and upping my cardio a bit (more intervals) I thought I would throw a thermogenic product into the mix.

I have a lot of trouble with my lower body, like most women. Genetically I am more pear-shaped so when I lose fat it comes off top to bottom. What would be a good product, or stack, for me to try? I was thinking maybe SAN Tight or Redline? I would prefer not to take Ephedra (although I have before in the past and it doesn't bother me). That probably won't be an issue since its been banned anyways. I also have green tea caps at home - haven't been taking them though - they really didn't do anything for me on there on but maybe if I stacked them w/something?

Anyone who can give me some advice, product reviews, it would be greatly appreciated. The last 8-10 lbs are a bitch!

Whats your diet look like, anyway? Are you just in a straight caloric defecit, or are you doing refeeds?

As for a thermo... you really cant beat an ephedrine/caffeine stack. Lipoderm by Avant would probably help as well (although its not a thermo).

J...try the SAN Tight. I like it alot. Also try the Lipoderm Y( rub on legs and butt), but stop using it about a week out from the show.

also keep in mind, the last two weeks is when big changes come in the leg dept. You may have to stop training them 10 to 14 days out to give the water a chance to come out of them, etc.

Thanks Mono :)

The way that I approach my diet is to just record everything I eat and make adjustments as I go, trying to tighten it up week after week. At the end of the week I take measurements/weight to see what's doing.

For the past month I have lost 5lbs (scale weight) and 1.5 inches off my waist. My hips - nada...it is so frustrating but I know there is no such thing as spot reduction. (I don't know my bf% but I estimate 15% based on my last test when I was 16.7% and now I am a bit leaner). I could care less about the %ages; I go by how I look in my figure bikini. I feel like I should be 5- 8 lbs leaner ~ I am lean everywhere but my lower half.

At the end of each week I average my calories to see where I fall. The past few weeks I have been at 1600 or so but my food choices should've been better (too much bread, not enough lean protein). I do eat 6 times a day, every 2-3 hours or so. Usuallymy diet is fairly high in carbs and protein and low fat. I feel best on this type of plan as opposed to carb cycling or low carb plans. I think my main problem w/diet over the past few weeks has been the social events that I have had to go to which involve eating out of the house - but now I realize I need to get serious and eat according to my plan.

I do cardio 4xweek: 2x45 on elliptical; 1x60 elliptical; and one interval day 25 intervals on the stepper (kicks my butt!!!) followed by 35 min on elliptical. I train with weights 3xweek using a total body workout and heavy weights. (8-12 reps)

I think if I keep my calories the same and just make better food choices--more turkey, tuna, eggwhites, (stuff I have been neglecting a bit) then I should be fine. The fat burner is just for the stubborn areas - my past 2 shows I was still not as tight as I would have like to have been in the lower body so anything "extra" I can do (not prohormones!) will help out a great deal. I know the past 2 shows I did my bodyfat needed to be lower but still I think a thermo, maybe something other females have had a good experience with, would help.

I read about some of the Avant products - Lipoderm, the stuff that you rub on in a cream - I am semi-skeptical of these fat vanishing creams - I dunno. I really don't have the funds to experiment with new things. Maybe I should just buy yohimbe (sp?) -- I know there is something out there specifically targeted for lower body fat storage. Can anyone help out?

You are thinking about Yohimbine. Its not that it is specifically targeted for lower body fat, its that female lower bodyfat is (typically, not always) stored because of excessive alpha-2 receptors. Which just happens to be how Yohimbine exherts its lipolytic effects.

Which just happens to be the active ingredient in Lipoderm-Y. So with the gel, you get the Yohimbine right where you want it, rather than floating around your whole body.

And the newly designed Lipoderm-Y contains caffiene, so it will no longer cause water retention.

And Lipoderm Ultra has a handful of other active ingredients.

And of course both have a money back guarantee.

Hey Jodie - I haven't been around so I first want to say CONGRATS on your show(s)!!! You look smoking, and you soooo deserve top honors, WAY TO GO!!!

I might try both of those, hmmmm.

My legs I am not worried - you are right the last 1-2 weeks they will tighten up. But my :booty: needs some major help! Where do you buy it? I was going to try Bulk Nutrition.

I also want to try Dyma-Lean protein powder.
Anyone have a taste report on that one? :)

The best thermogenic is diet/exercise. If not, Clen/Ephedrine. lol

If you buy it through Avant you get the money back guarantee. You will not get money back guarantee through any other site. And as TP said, get the new LipoY with caffeine so there is no longer water retention.

Thanks Twin Peak!
Yes, I meant Yohimbine!
I really would like to try a product with Yohimbine, Lipoderm-Y sounds great.
I guess I have trouble comprehending how it can be absorbed topically; I am sure it is a great product though. I will research it some more.

Thanks:)

Thanks Jodi! If I buy it I will get it through the Avant site.

What does it actually do - burn fat? or tighten up the skin? Sounds interesting!

Muscle Gelz Transdermals
IronMag Labs Prohormones
Its a fat mobilizer. It moves fat (FFA) from the applied area to be used for energy. This is why diet is so important because you have to be eating clean because now your body will use that released fat (spot reduction). If you eat like crap it just goes back because it was not burned for energy. Don't expect miracle like inches lost and you won't lose water in the area because its not a cutting gel type product. Its a fat mobilizer and it does help and in a few weeks it will make a difference.

You'll like it J! I've used it when cutting for my shows. Good stuff :thumb:

Thank you for the nice words on the show! I start again tomorrow for another. :(

Anyone else a little curious about the diet?

If youre just constantly lowering your calories each week, youre probably starting to go 2 steps forward 1 step back with regards to metabolism and lipolysis. I mean, if youve used this diet in the past with great success, then ignore me. :D But if its new, you might consider switching to a diet that focuses more on manipulating body chemistry to your best advantage, instead of this sort of "brute force" cardio-till-youre-dead concentration camp style diet.

Of course, ive never competed and ive never dieted to bodyfat levels that low, so... ;)

I am not lowering my calories week to week. I do not have a meal plan but I generally eat 6 times a day: a carb and a protein...oats and egg whites, turkey on a salad, protein shake w/skim, lean ground turkey/veggies/ww bread....just to give a few examples. My diet was like sh*t the past week though because I had too many unplanned meals (something I am working on). I ASSURE you I am not starving here.

In the past I have had to do cardio 30-45 nearly everyday to get the last few lbs to come off for the past 2 shows. Generally though I can maintain 16% or so bodyfat with cardio 2-3 days a week (less if I use HIT).

Now that I have competed twice before I realize that this whole sport involves not following the herd but experimenting and tracking your OWN body's responses to various diet and training elements. I have tried so many times to follow this or that diet, only to get frustrated and give up and end up bingeing. My choice is to follow something a bit less strict - don't get me wrong I am not eating complete crap here - but I refuse to cut out fruit, low fat and fat free dairy, condiments, and other things I know help keep me sane and want to do this day to day. I know that as the show approaches I will stick to the basics but for now I am keeping things as they are. The things I am changing as of right now are - not eating out of my house (since I never know what the heck I am truly getting!) and making sure I get a good protein source in each meal (as I said something I was doing half-assed til now).

I do not intend to do "concentration camp style cardio" whatever that means.
I DO need to perform cardio to get any leaner than 15% (as do many others - um Jodie was doing 2xday for her prep). Right now I am doing cardio 4 days a week...not excessive by any means. I would rather clean up where I need to with this diet, see what changes occur, then if I need to, increase cardio.

It was recommended to me before that doing interval cardio sessions helps tap into the more stubborn fat stores, through tapping into those specific enzymes. In addition to this I think I will add in SAN Tight and see what happens. I am sure Lipo-Y is great but I can only afford one right now.
