Closer than you think!
I've been involved with big power and fast boats since I was a kid! Last weekend was one of the biggest powerboating events in the nation here in my home town so I figured I'd share a couple vids for the "Gear heads" on the board! The record for the course was 209 mph and was set 3 or 4 years ago.. Keep in mind this is a 50' 11,000lb boat!

that must have been a very very bumpy ride : 0
I cant speak for what it would feel like at 209...never been that fast on the water nor do I want to....I have been in several that are similar without the race canopy at speeds up to 170mph! You would think it would be rough, but they are more stable at higher speeds! Once on plane they're like riding in a cadillac! That is if you can keep it upright..they get kitey sometimes..lol
Heres one of that same boat in a poker run about 5 months ago! He got lucky it only ripped the side off of the boat.

That's insane...and bad ass. The fastest I've ever gone on the water was 96mph and that was on a 26' baha with twin 502 outboards on it. And that was freakin scooting....

If it ain't Waylon or hank its not country.

Not sure I understand LAM! The speed it was clocked at was 224 mph on the 1 mile course! The manufacturer of the boat is Mystic Powerboats. That one had T-55 Turbines ... There was another one that had T-53's that ran like 186.

you answered my question the T-55/53's are made by Lycoming. you'll find the T55's in F-16 jet fighters, I believe they are putting out close to 6,000HP each.
