Why am i so crap at push ups?

I'm just pretty terrible at push ups and its disappointing. i can only do about 15 with good form, but after that i max out at 20 with very questionable technique. I can do about 15 pull ups, and am generally in alright shape, so i really feel like i should be able to do more. Back when i was a bit younger, maybe 16-17 i was able to do like 40-50 in a row.
Also i have to do push ups on my fists now, as due to a bike crash it hurts to bend my wrist too far back, but i don't think that should effect me as much as it seem to have.
 
I wouldn't feel to bad bud. You'd be surprised at how many people can do even 5. Considering that the chest and triceps are primarily doing the work, that's what needs improvement. There are a bunch of push up variations that make it easier to get number. Burn out doing standard push-ups then immediately burn out doing one of the easier variations, like doing them from your knees or on an upward angle.
