My problem is with native English speakers who type like they were doing it during a seizure.

I am forgiving to those who have English as a secondary language. But it always amazes me when i meet people (with paying office jobs) who are born and brought up with English as the medium of instruction and it is the only language they speak or have ever spoken and still do badly. No, one doesn't have to be a literary scholar, but geez, we are talking basic language grade school skills. :spaz:

As far as typing up a post on a forum, it doesn't bother me much so long as i can understand what the poster is trying to say. Often i don't bother to read back and correct my posts and I'm sure i've made some pretty big gaffes. But what always gets me is when someone posts a word with the correct spelling but in the wrong context of the sentence. E.g. 'I have a 30 inch waste' .. good God! please check your diet or English!

And how many realized that the well known phrase "You've got mail." is grammatically incorrect? It should be "You have mail" :p

I told Vanity I was trying to learn Italian. He said "learn English." :nerd:

:haha:

Saying that someone is stupid because he misspells things, is stupid.
I have a hard time understanding why an otherwise intelligient person can not spell. But one of the smartest people I know is a top notch electrical engineer. He owned a company by 30 and retired at 50. He has written hundreds of white papers and has many credits in engineering journals.... and he can't spell to save his ass.

Translation: I am lazy and I dont care what you think about it!

Translation: I am an asshole and I left the apostrophe out of don't because I was in a hurry to prove it! :p

He could be dyslexic...

i'm not sure if i'm dyslexic or what but i read a lot of words by sight i think and don't realize they are misspelled until the person i'm chatting with points out their mistake. when i'm tired i read words wrong and missplace letters.

i think a lot of people my age just learned to compensate for problems that weren't even recognized when we were in grade school.

it's harder to spell a word when i am conscious of trying. once i was writing a letter and i forgot how to spell of.

How about "seen"???? People here use it quite often - like "I seen so & so the other day"

It drives me fricken nuts
