working around intense left shoulder pain

okay, me and my work out buddy on shoulder days, are doing alot of front and side lateral raises, and to my dismay after only a few reps i will get an intense shooting pain in my left shoulder.

it feels more towards the front, and rubbing it does not relieve pain or stimulate any pain, only on these two particular motions,

when i DB sitting shoulder press i am not affected.

i just seems to be the motion, so what other lifts stimulate the muscle group that doing front/side lateral raises does?
