If your lifting heavy and trying to add strength and size I would suggest a creatine and protein.If you were thinking a preworkout boost and thats why you asked about thermogenics then I would suggest CytoSport Fast Twitch. I LOVE this stuff and it tastes GREAT! So don't move away from basics bro, creatine,protein and fast twitch if you think you need it.
 
Track you cals, figure out your maint. cals and then eat about 500cals below that. Its that simple. You dont need any sort of supps to acomplish this.

Yeah those pills are bad for you
