Wanted to see what people do when they have ongoing injuries that never seem to die and their relation to training and cycling. I have had tendonitis in my right forearm near the elbow (on top) that has seemed to plague me for 3 years now. Went to the doc for it about a year ago and instead of addressing that issue, she wanted to put me on zoloft. Chrissakes, she could well have perscribed me birth control for an ear infection. I asked her about cortizone shots and was wholly ignored.

Maybe it's time to doctor shop, but wanted to get your guys's takes on the matter before getting another opinion and starting my first cycle. When I start, I am planning on hitting it harder than ever before and don't want this knucklehead pain getting in my way. Any pointers would be appreciated.

Try wrapping it tight with medical wrap and see if it makes it painfree at least for the workout...

Try taking 4-6000mg fish oil a day

I'd fear building muscle fast around this weakspot may make it worse perhaps, go lightweight maybe, and see how it goes?

Ya, it possibly may get worse. I'll just baby it like you suggest and cry myself to sleep if need be. I am motivated to get my cycle started. Maybe get a shot a bit later if I really need to - of course thats only temporary, but if it helps me get through it, what he hell.

Forearms are tough. Any injury it's RICE: Rest, ice, compression and elevation. These and work around the injury. When I have had forearm injuries it's usually been tendinitis. I couldn't do upright rows or curl without pain but some movements didn't hurt at all. I stuck with the later until the injury subsided. Also use lower weight. If it hurts don't do it. Also stretching helps stimulate healing but done intelligently.

Elbow & forearm tendoniits SUCK. I made my first trip to a physical therapist for forearm tendonitis in 1992. It still flairs regularly. Elbow tendonitis in particular sucks because there's no real "muscle" area that you can massage.

RICE definitely.

Take some time off from it. Try doing reverse curls. Also the short bar / stick w/ a light plate on a rope that you roll up and down. Also a stress ball on your 'off' days.

If you're going to cycle, anything that introduces some aromatization will help. EQ offers connective tissue support as well.

Yup, worked around injuries for many months and in some cases years. I had to take off 6 months last year from training due to a newborn and that helped the most out of everything. I have a pain free shoulder after 18 months of rotator cuff pain. Time off is HUGE.

In the other AAS section, I actually ask about the significance of using EQ - asking if it's even worth buying and using. Sassy brings up a great positive, for my particular situation. I have taken off an enormous ammount of time from BBing in general. About 5 years ago, I was in great shape but not huge like some of you. Never used AAS. Stats were 190lbs, 11%BF, 5'11" - like I said, not big or anything, but fit. With getting married and kids under the roof now, I am at 183lbs and roughly 16%BF. My max before was 208lbs, 12%BF just before entering the Marines, long ago.

The issue flaired for no reason that I can see and time off never makes it go away completely. Glad to see some use of AAS can help a bit. I'll do whatever it takes to push through it - I am more motivated than ever and have been acclimating myself back into my old routines with the edition of gear this time around.

Thanks a bunch for the advice :winkfinger:

i tore labrum in my left shoulder in december, i rested my upper body until pain was near gone, then started training light weight, once in a while i go heavy now with no pain, but i have definitely lost the ability to hit the reps i used to at heavy weight
\ive got no insurance and im on unemployment so i cant get surgery, it was enough of a hastle to get the free clinic to get me a MRI

I had a bad elbow for some time. After a lot of research I ran a low dose Test E (150mg/wk)/Deca (150mg/wk)/EQ (150mg/wk) cycle for 12 weeks. Man, my elbow feels better and it's been over a year since PCT.

I feel your pain, I have that same tendonitis in my right elbow right, also both knees flare up at times. I can't say enough about Ice, Fish oil, rest. Work around the area unfortunately hard to do with elbow. Might be a good time to go two on and one off two on two off hitting legs right before the two off. this will give you three days to recoupe. Mine will flare without warning and when it does preacher curls are out as is any rotation with DB work, like arnoald presses or BD curls so keep them palms out. Works for me but it's trial and error and pain tolerance. Push too hard it might cost you more time out of gym and that suck's. I was out 1 1/2 years when I tried to push through shoulder injury. Ended up with surgery and four anchors to reattche the labrum a sidewall tear and verticle tear of rotary cuff and ultrimately a lateral tear of the bicep tendon. Be smart or you can take foour steps forward and an enternity backwards. I'm back and feelin my age but F#$@ it, live and learn.

I would strongly research the IGF-DES and other research chems. There seems to be some healing wonders going on within these.

hi you should try acupuncture which is painless what happens with your injury after a long time the body stops trying to repair the damage. The acupuncture needles make small holes in the tendons and the brain sends new signals to repair the damage. This is quite common in all hospitals.....Hope this helps

I was involved in a serious car accident that left doctors telling me I should never lift again.... To this day.

I have 24/7 back pain, what I try is to take a hot shower before if its REALLY hurting, or I spray "icy hot", doesn't do much besides give it a dull/numbing feeling until I don't think about the pain anymore.

Those cold/hot patches may work as well, i've never used during a workout. I honestly work through the pain however, but it's always been one of my strong traits. I rarely complain and bitch about it (I'm in NO way say you are, cause your not) and I just push through it.

I'm going through some shoulder issues now. I use to just push through it when I was younger since I healed so fast. now I have to lighten up the weights and miss some workouts.
