DOMS after every workout is just as crucial in indicating progress as "the pump" is...which isn't a very good indicator.

use things like strength and size gains to indicate progress.

Fine, hit him with a baseball bat about 30 times. He will be growing like crazy with all that soreness.
 
This is only the case in people who are new to training or just getting back into it. I am always sore for the first week or so.... but I rarely get sore anymore, however it still does happen. Not EVERY DAY though
 
If you dont nut during sex, it wasnt really sex.

Train with just the bar on a range of 10 movements, and do 10 sets of 500 reps. Do this twice a day.

You will be sore as fuck, you will waste time, and your progress will be nil.
