Convicted killer Billy Slagle found hanging on death row

CLEVELAND -- Convicted killer Billy Slagle has ended his life while on death row at the Chillicothe Correctional Institution.
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction tells WKYC Slagle was found shortly after 5 a.m. hanging in his cell. He was pronounced dead at 6:11 a.m.
JoeEllen Smith with the department says a comprehensive after action review and investigation is underway on how Slagle was able to get material to commit the suicide.
Slagle was sentenced to die in three days on Aug. 7.
Slagle was found guilty for repeatedly stabbing and killing 40-year-old Mari Ann Pope.

I read a synopsis of the crime. Yep, he got what the law allows in Ohio. Too bad he didn't do it sooner and save the tax payers some money.

I wonder...if the jailers could have revived him they would still have to execute him. That would be kind of weird, wouldn't it?

lol I agree, all Sheriffs that work in prisons from here on out shall be; trained to reanimate hanging individuals on death row, then lead them to a comfy chair with all the electrodes.

Or, to the discretion of the officers; just revive and then administer the potassium chloride.

I would agree with you except the way we execute these days. We put the criminals down like a beloved pet. I say dust off Ol' Sparky or bring back hanging. Make the punishment put some real fear into the people doing the crime. Maybe, just maybe, someone, somewhere, some time will think twice before committing a capital crime.

Revive him, but he's brain dead, they have him on life support and still have to kill him by injection instead of just pulling the plug....
