LAS VEGAS -- In a transaction that will forever change the mixed martial arts world, Zuffa, the parent company of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, has purchased its top competitor, Strikeforce.

UFC president Dana White spoke to MMA Fighting exclusively about why the historic purchase happened, the terms of the deal, what this means for the Strikeforce brand and fighters and much more.

It was a matter of time my man. Don't know if I'm happy or not. Long as the fighters are still fighting, I guess it doesn't really matter to me.

Same old stuff and not keep around fighters for business, but only ones he likes (AKA kiss his ass). Dana is a prick and holds a grudge.

even though overall the number of mma fans is increasing, i can't say i'm happy about this......i really wanted SF to compete head to head for ratings against the UFC.....i personally feel the UFC isn't putting on good enough matches anymore and too many of the "personalities" are on the tail end of their careers.....SF had my interest because of using ex actors, ex nfl, etc......there is more of a storyline with that.....

i guess i'll not be happy until the old "PRIDE" comes back and they let them juice and do the tourney format like before

Probably the cheapest way to get Fedor.

im pumped for it. there will be undisputed champions. i mean theres still smaller K-1 and Dream but the real champs are in the UFC and no one can debate that once they really merge them

alistair, hendo back in the UFC, im pumped. it will be awhile like with WEC but they'll bring them in eventually

Interesting. Don't know if this is a good or bad thing. Time will tell.

Its kinda good for the simple fact that there is only one brand to watch, unlike boxing in its prime. On the other hand a lot of good fighters will get over looked. In the corporate world its illegal to a have monopoly, guess the gov doesn't care about MMA.

Maybe Fador will finally fight in the UFC now. LOL

Fedor will never fight in the UFC. He'll finish out his contract in Strikeforce and that'll be it. Fedor's contract wasn't renewed with ZUFFA, so that's a pretty solid indicator as to his future in the UFC.

I know Dana White is stating that Strikeforce will remain a separate entity, but hopefully with UFC buying out the competition, there will be some better match ups in the near future?
