As for arguing, some people I know are so hard headed that discussing something is so tedious, that I either shut up or not even delve into the discussion due to past debates. Its always easier to leave these assholes alone than to prove youre right.

Occasionally I will pretend to agree with a point (It's half-hearted; I will barely acknowledge what they said and change the subject) or avoid answering if I don't feel like arguing about it. That's rare though. Normally I like a good debate.
