It is Microsoft's next operating system.

3 years from now it will be the standard...

But your customers aren't going to be running a linux or unix distro. :thumb:

So when they ask you to fix their vista machine, or consult them, and you tell them to use linux, they'll be like :wtf: you're fired.

I'm sure that my work PC will be a Vista box.

Maybe a bit longer. Companies got sick and tired of upgrading all the time and slowed down.

XP was released in 2001. The comp i work for upgraded from 2000 to XP in 2005-2006. I dont think they will upgrade to Vista in 3 years. More like 5 years or more maybe. I know it is only one comp i am talking about but this goes for majority of companies.

my christmas present to me is going to be a kickass pc. vista loaded. i've read there are some things to watch out for but eh, they'll fix the bugs.

so will the windows vista be compaitable with games and stuff ?? or it'll have bugs and shit??? what about it's requirements? i guess i'll have to check it's web page..

A Windows Vista Premium Ready PC includes at least:

40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.

Nah, It only requires 8 gigs of space for install. The vista ISO is 2.7 gig's compressed, and decompresses to about 7.8 ish.

I'm running vista ultimate, RC 1.

I dug up an old geforce ti 4200 card, and I'm dl'n the forceware x86 vista drivers for it to see if I can get aero and winflip 3d working.

I haven't even scratched the surface yet. Also, it depends on the price, and the core version. There is going to be 6 core versions. Also depends if you're an innovator or merely an early adopter.

Build 5728 is up on connect, if you're interested.

So far I like Vista, I'll probably the the premium home edition for my personal pc, but doubt I'll upgrade my office systems right away. I like that it will all be on one DVD, so if I ever feel I want to go up to ultimate, it's only a click away.:clapping:

Official RC 1 IS build 5278....which is what I'm running...

So you have used Aero GUI yet?

I'll wait until the pirated copy falls into my lap, then maybe just maybe I'll try it on my sacrificial box I use to DL torrents and other dangerous things...

So what makes Vista any better? Can I tweak the user interface like I always do? Is it going to hog my memory? How much more snooping will Billy be doing...

DL it from microsoft website. 900k/sec....or u can go torrent 15 k/sec.

I just installed it an hour ago....runs alot smoother...quicker.
